Noisy & Juddery A610 Wiper Motor and Assembly.

Postby Bazzer501 » Wed Sep 11, 2019 4:59 pm

Hi all,

I'm after some advice as the wiper motor and assembly on my A610 seems to have gotten really noisy and a little juddery so over the winter I wanted to remove the whole lot and see if it can be refurbished.
Would anyone know if this is common with any other vehicle or is the motor and assembly Alpine specific?
If it's no longer available then does anyone know of a company that can refurbish these?

I have removed the wipers, caps and nuts and run thin oil down the spindles but this doesn't seem to have made any improvement at all so any advice would be more than welcome,

Cheer, Barry.

Following this since my GTA seems to be the same, with no obvious cause.
It rarely gets driven in rain, but the MOT tester wasn't happy with the operation of them since he said the juddering wasn't clearing the screen, got an advise this time but might not be so lucky in future

I think the 'bearings' are phosphor bronze and corrode over time. It is Alpine specific but I think these parts can be replaced.

Paul Sage rebuilt my GTA one years ago. When he showed me the mechanism you could barely turn it by hand so it was amazing how powerful the motor was to allow it to still work.

All a long time ago now so don't quote me on the details but you could check with Paul, Lee or JL Engineering?
I'm just here for the gasoline.

I remember stripping down my wipers 10 years or so ago.. and indeed the mechanism was pretty tough to move. Once the motor was off the assembly I freed up the mechanism and lubed it

May be a bit more tricky for access in a 610 ..more under the hood with the PAS and AC etc..

Morning all,

Thanks for your helpful replies.
I will be removing the mechanism, probably in November as I'm off to France in October to the Club Alpine Dieppe Rallye Touristique. I'll feed back here with what I find, hopefully with a few photographs. That said if anyone else has any advice or tips then I'd be happy to hear from you.

Regards, Barry

Luckily (unluckily?) for RHD A610 owners its the same as GTA. Nothing a good rebuild and strip down wont cure. It wont be much fun to remove though. Got good S/H and NOS available.
