Postby redodare » Wed Aug 22, 2007 5:48 pm

Does anybody have a soare caliper in usable/reconable condition.

Or is there a company that can recon a rather sad caliper?

It's not a difficult job .I have the spring washer compressor tool now ( Ebay lucky find ) it makes it a hell of a lot easier to do .You can borrow it if you like .

GTA LH Rear Brake Caliper.

Thanks for that offer Lee, I will probably take you up on it for the RH caliper. I saw your posting re rear calipers and will be sourcing pistons from that company. The big problem is that the bores on the LH side are heavily scored. I also have the rebuild kits from Renault at mega money so have all the rubber parts.

Where is it scored ?
As long as the rubber seal seat is good and the scoring doesn't run into the groove I think it would be serviceable ?Not 100% sure ,you need to check with a professional fella .I have a spare caliper body but it''s the wrong hand I think ,drivers side ??

Hi guys. Sorry to hijack the thread, but I can't seem to post a new thread (I have been living in China for 5 years and haven't been very active).
I have been trying to get my '88 D501 Turbo back on the road and it failed the MOT on the brake efficiency and balance (Both footbrake and handbrake), so I either need 2 new rear calipers or rebuild kits and one front right (driver's side) caliper or rebuild kit. Anybody able to help me out?

Thanks in advance.
Liam

Hi Liam.

I used BigRed last year - they did a good job on the rears (inc sourcing a new core after the old one failed to re-tap properly with respect to a snapped off bleed nipple). They were very slow though. If you can get the calipers off the car and sent to them then I'd recommend them esp if time isn't an issue.

If not then last time i bumped into Paul Sage at one of the new A110 events he told me he had rebuilt units on the shelf. He refurbs them himself with new seals and has the correct spring washer tool so they should be good as new. If I'd have known I would have gone to Paul.

I just repainted mine to match the fronts.
