New A110 Remap

This would very definitely be a “no thanks” for me for a couple of reasons.

It’s a very new, low volume car and therefore we haven’t yet discovered weaknesses (if any) which might be exacerbated by a significant power uplift and result in an expensive reliance on manufacturer warranty.

But more than this, where this car really scores is in the fact that its already fun to drive close to its limits and within the UK legal limits. I don’t want to rock that boat :-)

Thanks for this- very interesting to see that it is achieved so easily with (apparently) no significant stress on the engine.

Not for me at the moment - this is a brand new car and I might need to rely on the warranty! Will probably look at it in 3 years when we know how strong the mechanicals are and how this tune stands up-

I did the same with my V6 SAAB- had it from new and then had a Hirsch tune when it went for a service at 4 years old. Was like having a new car.

I'd certainly be wary on 3 counts
1) It exceeds the stated torque capacity of the gearbox of 320nm (but then again it appears that in standard trim Alpines have quite a bit more - another tuner showed 340nm in standard trim)
2) On track it's clear that cooling is already marginal
3) I'm not sure that extra torque low down will make the engine nicer. At the moment the off on boost transition isn't so marked as (say) the 718, I'd prefer it stayed that way. Also the current torque curve encourages you to rev the engine - which is fun.

That said extending the torque curve at the top end (but not increasing it's peak ) would make the engine even more revvy - which would be nice. But cooling might still be an issue.

Whilst at the present time I'm very happy with the power and performance offered by the production car It will be very interesting to test drive a modified car at some point in the future. Good luck with the developments.

I'm not too sure about this either as I would only want to do this for the track. But then again the wheels and suspension aren't set up for the track so you're looking at more mods which I'm not sure I want either. The car is well judged for the road so to introduce these things will change it for the worse I reckon.

That or us Alpine owners are a bunch of softies!

I'm not sure why but there must be a market for this kind of stuff though as the same team has developed upgrades for the 911T. They must be on to something we're not aware of?

I may be wrong but looking at the early registration date of the car and the length of time Litchfield have had it there may be some official input or connection here. If there is it may help alleviate any warranty concerns which would certainly be an issue on a new car.

This is great news, you can never have too much power, torque or fun.
To the nay-sayers......live a little more, maybe have your map tweeked by half what Lichfield can offer?

I think the A110 strikes terrific balance between power/torque and grip at sensible ROAD speeds. I wouldn't like to see that spoiled by
a significant increase in any of them that only driving gods can exploit,

On some cars I notice Litchfield allow different maps to be selected to run different fuels or revert to standard. In addition on the Ford RS at least they allow selection of different exhaust modes ( I think via the cruise control buttons). Now that would really interest me. If we could have a switchable exhaust and a very mild boost right at the top end I'd seriously consider it. I'm not bothered about the power as such, just like for the engine to be even more revvy.

There's an unused switch already on the dash as well....Wonder what it is used for- heated seats perhaps in the Legende?

According to the manual the switch for the heated seats is actually on the seats themselves.
