Alpine to the Alps - video and more to come!

Postby Danno_el_Mano » Sun Sep 23, 2018 7:19 pm

Evening all!

Please indulge me the shameless self-promotion but ... it's kind of my job. And hopefully the topic is of interest.

Short version, a couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to do a big road trip in an A110 press car having successfully pitched the story of following Jean Redele's story (and that of Alpine) from Dieppe to the Alps and via some key spots in the history of both. There are a ton of pictures on my Instagram feed (dan.trent) from a couple of weeks back but I've put a few below too. These are mine but those of my companion for the trip Sim Mainey are much better, but then he's the pro with the camera and I'm more about words.

Fruits of our 'labours' (I'd hesitate to describe the trip as such!) will be seen in due course in various places and I'll throw links as they go live. I've already done a video blog type thing which you can see here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VV59jGRw1Qk

Shoot me down but I did say the Cayman sounds better. Sorry, but I had to find something to criticise and it's all relative because neither sound brilliant. I think we can all agree on the 4C comparisons though!

Anyway, hope you like the vid and I'll keep you all posted on where and when you can see the full stories as they go live.

Cheers!

Dan

Welcome Dan thankyou very much for the heads up on your video. A fair appraisal I think but I have yet to drive one. Hoping to remedy that soon. :up

Thanks for posting Dan, we all went to the unveiling of that Redele statue back in 2008

That's proper super-fan stuff going to the statue unveiling - bravo! A pity it's not in a more salubrious or prominent location given his stature and links to the town but I guess it's within sight of the factory so that counts for something. We did encounter an A110 Berlinette (or 'model' at least) on a roundabout on the way out of town too but it was hard to stop and get a picture. It's on Google Maps though, link below. I'm guessing it's probably pretty well known and anyone who's visited Dieppe will probably be well aware of it already.

There was once a real A110 on the roof of a restaurant down near the port which later ended up on the roof of a garage near to the parts and service department, these were the days you could barely give away a A110 so I am guessing someone realised its value and has removed it and probably restored it and someone has paid a shed load of money for it.
