New Alpine A110 owners experiences and photos.

The big plus for me for Waze is the way it dynamically handles the traffic, much better than any car based system I've used so far - did play with the nav in the car and the next 3 junctions thing is quite cool, though prefer it when they also tell you the distance to the next junction too. But it did pick up the M48 bridge was closed

Also need to work out how to mount my phone as primarily use Waze so need to see the screen, don't like windscreen mounts, anyone solved this yet....

Many poeple prefer to use Waze, though.

I know Waze has many fans (I'm tempted to say desciples), and I wouldn't claim the built in sat is exceptional BUT I find the ability to configure the virtual third dial in the rev counter todisplay both the next junction and the following 3 junctions is a big plus. The fact that music is muted when announcements are made etc does give the built in system some real advantage over any phone based system.

Yes, I was hoping waze would work with Myspin as I can't see me using Myspin for anything else to be honest.

Quick question; can you use Apple Music with either myspin or via bluetooth to the Audio system.

Someone else will be able to say for sure but I would expect it to work with the system but not with mySPIN

I plugged an iPod into the usb and controlled that from the screen

OK so I've spent another 10 minutes playing with the hifi.
I accept it might be user error but Myspin keeps disconnecting so it is b*gger all use to me and waze doesn't work with it anyway.

On a brighter note I can confirm bluetooth to my phone works immediately.

I ran Amazon music and itunes from my phone ( I dont have apple music) and the controls worked fine from the car screen for fwd/back etc but as for choosing tracks I couldnt work that out but the music played through the system

Do yourself a favour and take advantage of the Hi-res capability of the system and rip some AIFF tracks to SD which seems much easier to navigate from my limited experience.

Only negative observation is that the car seems to revert to the last listened-to radio station even if the sd was the last source used. Very minor point and could be fixed on a software update.

Sounds as though it workable, I normally just choose a playlist and then just use skip.

Getting mine tomorrow so will have a play then.

Yes collecting tomorrow for the first time.

It was registered at the end of August but not ready till now.

Here's another photo as I see the thread has dropped from eye candy to ramblings by me. I worked at home today and found three pointless journeys I had to make just so I could use the car.

Useless info for a new owner:
I don't recommend you put laptops/phones etc in the rear boot as it gets a bit warm. I used it for a pizza this afternoon.
If you need fuel remember your fuel flap is in front of you!
If you push the alpine logo in the middle of the sat nav screen it takes you to the telemetry settings. I use that for monitoring oil temperature.
You can run the car in sport mode when running in- just be easy on the "loud pedal". In this mode it is possble to have the sat nav instructions in the left hand pod of the instrument binnacle (inside the rev counter). The display here is changed by the up/down buttons on the right hand wiper stalk

Turn stop start off!

Play some ac/dc on the remarkably good hi fi

Thanks for the tips, definitely going to use Sport mode from time to time.

Probably more Meatloaf than AC/DC for me though.

Collecting from Ian at Manchester, who incidentally has been very helpful.
Then back to Shropshire and over to Wales for the weekend, going to surprise my Dad who has no idea I am getting one.
Hopefully we can get some decent photos too.

A good mid week Sortie ... starting to get to grips with it.

Reserved mine January this year, looking forward to receiving the car next spring! A recent test drive exceeded my expectations, the car is a dream!

Now a question: I have read of a few galvanic corrosion problems on some (non Renault group) cars with a high aluminium content. One particularly scary tale of a mild steel towbar, presumably aftermarket, fitted to a Tesla S, and after 3 years the towbar and aluminium rear subframe had eaten each other. Anybody any info on Renault experience in this area?

I shouldn't think anyone will be fitting a towbar so it shouldn't be an issue but thanks for raising it. Just don't bolt your stainless steel CB antennae to the roof!

The car is bonded together so, hopefully, that will avoid any galvanic corrosion - It is a real problem- I have a landrover defender - Alloy body on steel chassis/frame. I use a marine corrosion inhibitor (duralac) when I bolt anything to it in order to reduce the chance of galvanic reactions.

As regards towbar on a tesla- id be more concerned about puncturing the battery pack and getting fried.
