Most powerful PRV

I was going through some old data last night, and the most powerful PRV engine running was over 900bhp

Now this is a true PRV, not like the racing PRV used in the Renault F1 cars which were completly unrelated to our engines.

It was used by Peugeot on the WM Lemans Cars. It was 2973cc (93x73) as in the A610/Laguna, 24v heads (don't know if it was single cam or twin), twin turbo, running 6.5:1 compression, and 40psi of boost runing to 8200rpm on Bosch Motronic management.

V6 à 90° Peugeot ZNS4-WM

Prepared by Denis Mathiot Compétition

24 Valve

2 Garrett turbos

2973,8 cc ( 93 x 73 mm )

950 bhp ( qualifications )

910 bhp à 8200 t/mn ( track, at 2,8 bar boost )

Compression : 6,5:1

Management : Bosch Motronic 1.2

Sounds like it will be the most powerful PRV that any body knows about. What is the fastest top speed and quickest 1/4 mile time that anybody has done or knows about with a PRV ?
Who's got a GTA or a 610 that goes faster than 150 or 160 mph or quicker than 14.4 sec depending on the road test ?

WOW - I'd like to have that engine in my car :twisted:

The engine from Axel Ress is 2.848 ltr. (91x73mm) and will produce 325+ BHP. He does sell a bigger Turbo that will boost the BHP to 370+ depending on the pressure, but it needs to many rpm's for normal use.

With the changes to the original engine in my car, I have a (GPS meassured) topspeed at 262 km/h, or 162,84 mph (if 1 mile is 1,609 km). 1/4 mile at the last club meeting was 13,9 twice and 14,0 the third time - and a smelling clutch :?

There is a guy with a 25 turbo engine'd R21 Turbo Quadra (I know, confusing..!)

He has just done a 4.6 to 60mph and 13.6 standing quarter at Avon park.

Standard engine other than one of my boost upgrade kits, 17psi, and the big hybrid turbo.

I remember the WM Peugeots at Le Mans in the eighties....
They were ridiculously quick and occasionally made the front row of the grid. Before the chicanes were put in they were the fastest through the speed traps.

French TV used to cover the first hour of the race so it was crucial to get the cars near the front. Usually the cars expired after about 61mins....As a result photos will be rare!!
I definately have some photos of the cars somewhere, but not the engine.

I would never put one of those intercoolers on my rear spoiler, whether the car be a Lemans or a normal GTA.

You would be better off going for a liquid cooled intercooler or water injection.

The WM P87 Peugeot with a Peugeot Douvrin V6 prepared by the Denis Mathiot Competition took the Endurance Racing Speed Record in 1987. The Driver Francois Migault achieved the speed of 416 km/h! (Roughly 260mp/h)

In 1988, the WM P88 Peugeot took the Le Mans 24 Hours Race Maximum Speed Record
by achieving 405 km/h. (Roughly 253mp/h)

The above stats are from the Douvrin PRV V6 Resource Centre

This is what the 900hp prv v6 was capable of that dave mentioned earlier.

I have considered watercooled intercooler, but I'll wait and see how the car runs when I get it back from Axel Ress.

intake runners

Chargecooler

Chargecooling is definitely the way to go - my charge temp dropped 40 celcius at 1.1 bar of boost over the standard intercooler - on a hot day after it was intercooled. Its really easy to do if you have a non air con car too.

How much power Klaus?

With those 1/4 mile times I would estimate your car is running 230-240bhp at most - have you had the convertion by Axel or are you going to?

Got to go with charge cooling .Intercooler is neither use nor ornament . :evil: Dump the right hand chamber and replace with silicon pipe .Drilling out the side vents at the weekend to get some air in to engine bay + some adjusters for the rear glass to leave it open for long journeys ( not as much as Simon likes :lol: ) as it's running very hot with the extra boost .
