Heated rear window

Replaced the gas struts today and found that the wire going onto the window which should be soldered to the glass isnt no wonder it doesn't work

Anyone know how to repair this or if there is a repair kit available?

My mechanic Ed China(aka Stu) said that there isnt enuf metal to solder onto currently and would probably damage the glass.

Mine came away from the glass and although I'm led to believe you can actually solder the tag back on when I tried I didn't have much success.

A better way is to use 'conductive adhesive' which you can buy through a specialist retailer such as RS Electronics or perhaps Maplin, if there's one close to you.
The down side is that it is expensive mainly due to the high silver content which is needed to provide the conductor. From memory it's around £20 for a tube no bigger than a thimble!

I used some probably over 12 months ago and so far it's been fine....................doh something is bound to go wrong now!!!!

I used superglue putting it in layers over the top rather than between the surfaces so far its lasted a week!

I take it you don't watch Sky? In particular Wheeler Dealers on channel 133. Ed's the mechanic that does all the graft, then theres Mike Brewer who buys the cars then sells them on hopefully for a profit. Hopefully one day they will take on an Alpine to restore and sell on, then again theres not much money in that!!!
