How many A310's

Postby Wolf » Fri Jan 19, 2018 11:01 pm

Hello Everyone,
I'm new to the forum and to Alpines. I've just bought an A310. It's white with a black interior and has a Fleischmann bodykit. It's not been delivered yet as the dealer is putting British number plates on it but I hope to have it sometime next week.

I had previously been been in the market for an air cooled Porsche but the A310 really caught my eye. I really liked the looks and felt the Alpine was more individual. I really don't know that much about about A310's other than what I had read some time ago in a classic car magazine, that they are lighter, handle better and are rarer than 911's. What had put me off buying one was the episode of Wheeler Dealers where Mike had difficulty selling it. I thought if I needed to sell quickly for whatever reason I'd have a problem. A bit irrational really considering the other cars I own are not exactly easy to sell.

Anyway I have a question and would be pleased if any one could answer - how many A310's are there in the country? is the Fleischmann bodykit rare?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome.

?

Nice buy, is it the one on Pistonheads from the North Yorks/East?

To answer your question, not many! I reckon less than 20 on the road maybe be less than 30 in total. The A310 is growing on me, I never liked the shape and always thought it looked like the pink panther car. The interior is great, much better looking and put together than a GTA. Alas being a big fat tall bigger I cannot fit in so it's not a keeper for me.

Post some pics up of your new purchase and existing collection please. Also where are you based in the country?

Thanks Big MVS. I'm based in North London and yes it was the one on Pistonheads.

I'll put some pics of the new car up when it gets delivered. In the meantime as requested here are some pics of the other cars:

Welcome Wolf!

Nice collection. The A310 is beginning to grow on most of us now, everything goes in a cycle so they are cool again. :up

Hi Paul,
Thanks for the welcome.

The more I look into this car the more intrigued and fascinated I become. The design looks like pure 70s modernism. The designer, Robert Opron was part of that:

They used a Probe 16 in Clockwork Orange but I reckon the A310 would have fitted right in:

I spoke to the dealer, Brian, today. He’s still sorting out the necessary paperwork. Might take a bit of time. He assures me it looks a hundred times better in the metal (sorry, fibreglass) than in the pics. I haven’t seen it in the fibreglass yet and can’t wait for the day it gets delivered and I do.

Best
