I only bought goods (satellite navigation) from eBay Germany once without paypal and the guy was a crook and robbed me! He was a powerseller as well!

I sent cash via a bank transfer so you have been warned. If he seems genuine (like mine did!) you can probably get a better rate from another bank if you shop around. Alternatively Western Union money transfer or a friend with a euro bank account.

UK banks are a bunch of thieving gits when it comes to 'Euro' Transfers. I had the same problem. Either pay 15 quid for a 'small amount' euro transfer or 20 quid for an international money order....

I think (if memory serves) European banks are cheap/free for these transfers. It may be cheaper to use a friend with a european account (I'm hinting that you ask Spider Andy nicely  ).

I'm getting more and more pissed off with the ' BANKERS '
It's instant and easy to transfer money these days ,yet they make you pay when it's in there interest to do so .I recently had a bit of a problem with a card transaction, the money went in an instant and showed up so on an online service, but took three days to be refunded back even tho the company contacted me to confirm payment and I said NO :!: :!:
I'm sure the little bit's of interest add up

German banks - fabulous!!!!!!

Postby a310man » Thu Oct 20, 2005 7:54 pm

Hi all

Sorry you have difficulty in dealing with sellers on eBay Germany. UK banks rip you all off at every possible opportunity (as you well know!).
Here in Germany the banks have a fantastic system where you can transfer money from your own bank account directly into someone else's. It is called Überweisung. You go into the bank, use a machine similar to a cashpoint machine and transfer can be done in 2 minutes.

My wife and I wanted to send regular money to our UK bank from here. The German bank charge nothing to send the money but the UK bank charge £35 to receive it and pay it into our account. Neat. We now only pay into the UK account when we come over. Then it's only £5!!

Germany is a very convenient place to live; less expensive than the UK and there are thousands of lovely Alpines here too! I have just three.

In a mad moment, I bought another....it doesn't need much work.....!!

Lee, did your booty arrive ok, How much did the Bank rob from you.
Maybe soon, the RAOC will have enough resourses to run a EURO account and the treseaurer can process out UK funds over to Europe? I think you can get "ok" euroo accounts but there is a monthly charge (robbers again).

citi bank do multi currency accounts I think, but you used to be able to go to anywhere in europe and open an account with your passport as ID, but now it's a nightmare with all the money laundering problems and checks they have to do.
