Engine number

Postby bazzamac » Sun Jul 23, 2017 3:33 am

Hi all

Can anyone tell me where I can find the engine number on my 1987 GTA V6 Turbo. The owners manual says it is near the LHS engine mount immediately next to the receptacle for the dipstick. The Workshop Manual doesn't say. When I went to find it apparently the aluminium plate with the engine number is missing (rotted away?) but have been told the engine number is stamped somewhere on the block or both heads but I cannot find. Can anyone help please.

Cheers

Engine number definitely on the block, can't remember which side. Time to get the rag out and rub off all the dirt and oil and get the torch out to find it.
