Top section, later radio

Postby Alpine Tom » Sun Jul 09, 2017 10:14 pm

:wave

Just though I ask around one more time!

I have the bottom section cassette deck sourced from a 25 but the top section I found from an espace has no din plug attachment unfortunately so no go.

Does anyone have a top section they would be prepared to part with, you can have my clock in px (the display is blacked out but it still seems to work in reverse contrast)!

I think I have one in the garage but I'm not sure if it works.
It definitely needs the display changing over.
I'll dig it out and will check

.......... Can I take it that you have checked the bulb that back lights the display ? There are infact three light bulbs in the clock unit ..... one for the display, and the other two to light the writing above the push buttons. :)

Hi Rupert, that's potentially great news.
Even with a broken display at least there's a starting point to getting it fixed. Please do let me know if you come across it.

John C, I can see the display is blacked out but the numbers became clear when the power was restored. I can't remember about the bulbs but I'll check and post tomorrow if I get time.

Thanks both

Clock and lights work, but it's still the wrong one...... No input on the back for the din plug from the main unit :down

LOL

There are times I think I'm my own worst enemy....!

Can you spot the deliberate mistake!

I seem to remember opening it up when I first got it to see if I could find a serial number or ID on the display to change it, looks like I may have made a slight error putting it back together!

Tom,..... Glad to hear you have rectified your deliberate mistake, :up ..... now, do you still have the two self tapper screws that secured the rear cover to the din socket ..... you know ... the ones you wondered why you had left over after you replaced the rear cover first time ? :o
These two screws do two things, firstly, they take the strain when inserting the din plug so as not to stress the circuit board and potentially crack it, secondly they earth the rear cover to the socket casing for screening purposes. ;)

Back again!

Do you know where I can find the wiring guide for this radio?

My 1st attempt has resulted in precisely nothing!

Hi John,

Thanks for the speedy reply.

So I ment the connections as I had to cut in a new connection block. Two owners back had put a new head unit in. But I figured that problem which was the neutral/earth. The problem was combined with the fact that the din cable between top and bottom required a little switch cleaner to start communicating!

I now have another happy problem......... it seems I'm getting closer!!!

The issue now is the Security Code for the radio can this be cleared/found?

There should be a 14 character identification number stamped on the LHS of the main unit starting with "RN" ....... take that number to your friendly Renault Garage, and they should be able to look it up on their computer for you. :up
