Adaptronic ECU and FW V12

Is anyone running Adaptronic FW Version 12 on a v6 Renault?
I have an intermittent and random issue with the ECU cutting out for half a second. This can be with variable load and rev conditions.
Wish to discuss and help diagnose it.

Like to help you out but I am now in the same situation as you with the old 610, decided to change the coil pack and base unit and TDC sensor took them all off TD sensor wire was all cooked amazed how it still worked put new stuff on bloody thing won't start I hate electrics. But to top it all got new Tdc sensor decided to check the wires gave them a quick tug and one of the wires just pulled straight out had not been fixed in properly had to solder it back on nothing is made properly nower days. So I will not be starting the GTA bodywork, 610 engine has to come out all the wiring is basically crispy after 24 years you can't complain at that. But I am getting a bit worried as I was going to update to a more modern engine management like yours as the one behind the backseats has also suffered from 24 years of heat, also thinking of getting rid of that blooming alarm System if possible.

Adaptroninc with FW Version 1.0N has been on the car since 2008. Always no problem.
After fitting new turbo, the ECU has been upgraded to FW Version 12.
it cuts out for less than 1 seconc and then the ECU resets and it carries on as if nothing has happened.
When cruising or under load I feel it, not as harsh as hitting the boost or rev limit.
If it happens on the over run, I dont notice it, but I see the rev needle drop to zero then fires up again.
Developers are working on it and assisting well.
In parallel, I am trying some interim FW versions, just to see when the bug crept in.
They say once the bug is found, they can fix it for sure.

John is developing a straightforward Emerald replacement for the A610 / Z7X with loom.

Think he's about to make up three looms for customers so you might get one at a good price if you ask him now and it will come with a rolling road proven base map so will run straight away.

Nice to keep the older ECUs going if you can but the mapping resolution and other features are pretty archaic.

Adaptronic has traction contraol, launch control, 3D volumatric mapping and a host of other hot features that I dont have sensors for.

Considering the age of it I reckon it's pretty amazing that it's lasted that long In that heat environment as you say Stephen things have moved forward a long way and I think one of the reasons why I don't drive the 610 that much is because of it slow response when driving when you compare it to the GTA if you jump from one to the other it's like getting in a slug, The throttle response is slow you can almost hear the processor thinking about it if you drive some modern cars the throttle response now it's almost two sharp, and the other main reason is I never know if I'm going to make it to the end of my journey, mechanically and everything else is fine it's just the electrics.

With the 610 you have wheel and a Lambda sensors, so it should be possible to get all those features that Simon mentioned working too...if you really need them... :angel
The engine bays on these cars get too hot, they have poor cooling, and wires of that age go off.
I have a customer who makes equipment for making car wiring looms, they told me that new wire insulation materials are the reason that new cars are so much more reliable, the wiring does not age in the heat of the engine bay and therefore there are fewer problems.
If you are making up new looms, it would be wise to make sure that you are getting the Xlinked PE wiring insulation types that are rated for these applications, that would mean that you'll have a more reliable car (and you could also think about sequential injection too, coil packs to get rid of the Dizzy etc) .
Emerald also claims it works on odd fire engines too so an injected, engine managed Atmo is possible.

The throttle response and smooth idle of Dave Miles car with the Z7X 3 litre motor and aftermarket management is like chalk and cheese compared to the OEM ECU. The trademark lumpy tickover of the A610 is nowhere to be found :-)

I thought this laziness was down to the super low compression or lumpiness due to balance shaft but turns out it was just the ECU.

When I was at the goodwood members meeting with old f1 turbos running, I was chatting to one of the pit crew who said "in their day, these were real pigs, but now with modern ecu, they start and run easily"
Ecu's is one area where old isn't best.....although Martin is working wonders with the old renix on power.
