Air Quality Consultation London

Postby stephendell » Tue Jul 19, 2016 4:50 pm

If you are not impressed with the new Mayors Ultra Low Emission Zone proposals for London, for example you might live within the North and South circular roads and are worried about the proposed ULEZ extension or you would still like the opportunity to drive your classic car (or indeed any petrol car pre-2006) within central London you only have until 29th July 2016 to give your opinion.

This consultation has not been widely publicised. You will find the link here:

https://consultations.tfl.gov.uk/enviro ... nsult_view

There are a few questions at the start of the consultation which would appear to be designed to add weight to how seriously your opinion is taken depending on how informed you are.

To help you give more informed answers:

If you would like to know what the air quality is like in your area visit this link: http://www.londonair.org.uk/london/asp/ ... isodes.asp

If you would like to know the breakdown of pollution sources for central London please look here: http://cleanerairforlondon.org.uk/londo ... ion-london

So we wont be able to drive 4 miles in 5 hrs whenever we like then ? Cities are for people not cars these days ...times change.

What REALLY P------- me off is that we have known for years London is full of filthy buses, taxis & trucks. So why don't the authorities start introducing low emissions buses, clean taxis & ban big trucks altogether. I have been to New York several times & it seems to be much cleaner. Most of the buses are electric & many taxis are hybrids. Not exciting but cleaner. Clee is right cities are for people but with a bit of foresight, vehicles can be integrated as well.

Exactly and as a result the ensuing panic and overkill will result in my Alpine(s) being banned, which in their 1 or 2 days a year driving through central London contribute nothing towards the overall pollution level.

They only get a large portion of it because the majority of it is earned there.
You don't want to be there, fair enough but no point being an asp about it. :angel
