Parts Advice

Postby clee » Fri Jul 01, 2016 3:41 pm

Shamelessly copied, pasted and amended from another thread :wave :MoreSarc

Trying to gauge if my Dellivery time for the brake calipers I ordered with PARTs back in mid 2014 is normal. I understand that it would be coming from Hi-Spec so I know it would take a while and probably need to go back......
Don't get any updates, did manage to get a load of waffle when prodded just saying the missing bits were being made but nobody knew what they were and some bloke that did know had left because he couldn't take it no more and then that the new people quit after a week ...No ETA. Anyone with experience that can put my worries to bed?

I order a LOT of stuff through Hi-spec. They are very good to be fair. When they are quiet, I get stuff in 2-3 weeks. When they are busy maybe 4-6 weeks. An e-mail with a very clear order with what you want and you shouldn't have a problem. They reply with confirmation and invoice. Alex used to be the contact, he did leave and was replaced but hasn't made any difference in terms of speed of service.

I find Hi-spec to be an excellent company to deal with the vast majority of the time and their products are superb, great quality and excellent value for money.

You've got them and had them for ages.

As John says there is never any turn round problem for calipers.

Its the rear brackets that are the problem as you know as the part numbers and info have been lost and I've had to dismantle my own car to try and resolve it.

In the meantime I have some difficult and serious personal issues which I detailed to you privately in messages on Friday so you know the difficult position I'm in at the moment.

Doesn't help you I know but I won't be back to Oxford for some time.

Feel free to vent as I know it's bad but it won't help and at least I haven't done a Lord Lucan.

Yes.I know and I'm sorry but we all have shite to deal with on a daily basis and this has been going on for literally years .I'm not alone in this either and at some point it needs addressing.
I've always tried to play the game ...put stuff through the 'Club' so that the discounts build and benefit others whilst others go the back door and lie to get parts made and shipped .....
Closed shop with Hi-spec and Spax re RAOC developed bits .Fair enough ,I don't make my living from selling parts,Club developed them and I fit them so couldn't care less but I do when 2 years later the parts are still not here .

Sorry to bring this up on here ,I'm well aware re the Piles episode how much this sort of thing can grind your gears but ...I did at least get a response ...still no idea when I'll get the bits,if ever but a response at least .

I'm hoping my ongoing issues will be finally be concluded one way or another next week.

If it goes well parts experience should improve dramatically.

If not I'll make a partial refund and you can start designing a bracket.

Can't say much more at the moment.

No news again .Plenty of time to respond to Macon debacle and events but not to address own failings .I'm just sitting here with half a brake kit that was paid for in full 18 months ago ...but hey it's Stephen ...we all know what he's like .
Seems it doesn't matter I've been waiting nearly two years for these parts. Tell you what ...get Hi-Spec to send me the bits they think are correct ...I'll fit them and see...if adjustments are needed I'll tell them what needs doing .
Beyond pissed off now on this and my customer has given up chasing as well.

Macon was £8K without explanation or apology.

Brackets £95 with explanation and continued apologies. Although still clearly unacceptable it is 12 months exactly not 18 months or 2 years and there was no rush at the time.

In any event I'm back now and Alex is now back at Hi Spec so will aim to get this finally resolved for you one way or another ASAP.

I think that's in bad taste considering you know the extended delay is due to the death of the proprietors mother.

Very frustrating but out of my hands at the moment.

That's not an option any more. Too much extra time and expenditure. Hopefully they will come through this week.

.

I think you both have sufficient grounds to request refund from HiSpec, sounds like they have fallen a long way short of the following:

https://www.gov.uk/cma-cases/shop4tek-n ... de-refunds

Failure to supply goods in accordance with Regulation 19(1) of the Distance Selling Regulations 2000 (the 'DSRs'), which state that, in the absence of an agreement to the contrary, a distance contract shall be performed within 30 days beginning with the day after the day the consumer submits an order
Failure to comply with consumers' requests to cancel the contracts, following cancellation in accordance with Regulation 10 of the DSRs
Engaging in misleading actions in respect of the availability of the product to be purchased and also the delivery of the product in accordance with advertised delivery timescales, contrary to Regulation 3(4)(a) of the Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008.

Got to be worth a go hasn't it? If not, the wait and see policy is a bit high risk isn't it? Especially with all the design unknowns post mishaps with cad data etc, may not even be safe, will they carry any approvals, or motorsport only use? Professionally, the way I have to sign my life away at work for highly skilled operators of equipment, and in the case of safety guilty until proven innocent... I think I would rather causcious... I would certainly be asking if they will come with approvals.. just a thought..
