Turbo temp sensors

My engine bay fans are not coming on.
I am looking for a pair of the temp sensors that are located just in front of the turbo.

The fans work.....if I short out the sensor.
Anyone know where to purchase them or have access to a load of used or old stock?
I don't mind if they are not original sensors or not the correct temperature, I just wish for the fans to come on automatically.
Would consider fitting alternatives, but prefer to install ones that are proved to work/fit.

I did see same idea in a Renault 5 turbo, may be same senor
A610, Venturi 300, Lotus Carlton, R129 SL60 AMG , 996 Turbo, Range Rover Classic 1994, TR7 V8 Rally Car, TR7 sprint Race car for sale, BMW 850 CSI. BMW GS1200 bike, Where's has all my time gone.

From memory the early cars (yours Simon) have a sensor in the sump as well as the two sensors in front of the turbo. Maybe worth looking there?

If Andrew were here he would be able to confirm but alas. Have a search though as it rings a bell.

JohnC might have some other info also. I think you can test the sensors (in front of the turbo) in a pan of hot water, darrenbriggs is your man for this as again there are threads on the matter.

Yes Martin, I do have an early car (reg 1 Aug 86) and there is a sump oil temp sensor.
However, when car is warm (oil warm too).....when I short the turbo sensor the fans do come on, which indicates that sump sensor works and has been activated, while turbo sensor was not working.
The RATS service is awesome, managed to source a pair from Lee and they are south already, as he had a friendly customer there and then coming my way. Happy days.

Simon you can use BL Metro temp sensors. They are 3-4 dig out but fine...

Metro ones...3 or 4 on ebay...suitable for the fan switch sensor(should be 80-90, these are 84-940 , a few degrees hotter than the original (that's the top one, not as shown in the parts book) (eg item number 301891808380)
The workshop manual describes what should happen and workshop manual has them the correct way around with the upper switch (80-90) turning on the fans and the lower one putting on the overheat light on the dash.(110 degrees).
The parts book error has caused a few problems in the past, you might want to make sure yours are the correct way around, the cooler one is at the top. Put it in at the bottom as per the parts book and the dash warning light comes on before the fans.
