I received the extremely sad news from Martin on my way home tonight. The Jones family have suffered terrible tragedy over the last few years, for those that don't know Andrew lost a daughter and his wife in close succession and with the support of his family, the love for his grandchildren and his passion for his cars as some diversion it seemed on the surface at least that remarkably he had begun to come to terms with things. Only for this to happen. An irreplaceable character Andrew will be sorely missed.

Nick and family you have my sincere condolences and from your version of events, once you have gathered your thoughts it sounds like you may have a case of medical negligence on your hands. Your use of the word incredulously implies that you already suspect the delays were unacceptable.

If you decide to celebrate this hobby as part of any memorial you will have the support of the club and its members. If you wish to mourn privately that will also be respected.

Rest in the comfort that Andrew is now reunited with lost loved ones.

I'm so sorry to hear this extremely sad news. Both Annie and I met Andrew at numerous events, he was the epitimy of a gentleman and will always be remembered for the Tour of Wales, his Alpines always immaculately turned out where ever he went.

Like many others my Atmo also has one of his a roadside repairs which became a permanent feature, a piece of larger section rubber hose to my breather catch tank as I kept disapearing in a vey large cloud of blue smoke on the Tour of Wales.

You could not hope to meet a nicer guy and he will be sadly missed by aĺl those that had the privelidge to meet him; our thoughts go out to his family.

Rest in peace Turbodog Godspeed

So sorry and sad to hear this tragic news

Andrew was the first club member I met 5 years ago when I bought his blue gta turbo, his "blue rocket pocket" as he called it, my first alpine...

He was a true gentleman with a heart of gold, always ready to help. In my early alpine years, he would always get out of his way and take time to explain how to solve a problem, always ready to share and pass on his extensive knowledge. Later when I started my restoration he would call regularly to find out how things were going...

Andrew turbodog you will be missed dearly

My thoughts go to the Jones family in this sad times

So glad you posted this photo as I am not so great at fitting screen names to faces so must admit to not really knowing who had just passed away. Now I know and join in with the tributes here. Not that we met much but when we did, he always remembered my name and knew all about me.... more than can be said for me.
Just so glad I did have those moments with him and sad there will be no more.

Shocking news, I only met Andrew twice, firstly at a RATS open day where he imparted more detailed Alpine knowledge on such things as chassis numbers, than anyone could have hoped to have heard. The second time was the Northern meet, even on a damp cold January he was in his immaculate GTA.
From my short experience of him I am no doubt there is only one description that sums him up, and that's a Gentlemen.
I'm sure we will raise a glass to him at the Northern meet and toast an absent friend.

Like a lot of people on here, I read this late last night and was both shocked and saddened to hear the news. Too shocked in fact to reply.

RAOC is a small and tight-knit community. Some people are transient, buying and keeping an Alpine for just a short period of time. Others leave the fold, but pop in from time to time to say hello and observe what the rest of us are up to. Some like Andrew seem to be permanent fixtures, and like a lot of us who have been around since the start I suppose you kind of expect that they always will be.

Living in the South East I didn't meet Andrew on many occasions (more's the pity), but I looked back at some of Andrew's posts last night. They were always informative, always well judged, and always good natured. You didn't have to meet him face to face to realise what kind of person he was.

To quote the late Terry Pratchett: 'a man is not dead while his name is still spoken'

I think we'll be speaking the name of Turbodog for a long time to come.

I realise we don't have a flag to fly at half-mast, but unless anyone has any objections, Vince do you think we could change the background page to a picture of Andrew or one of his cars? Perhaps just the picture of him and BIGM? Seems fitting.
I'm just here for the gasoline.

Very shocked and saddened to hear the news. Really appreciate Nick taking the time, and heart felt feelings to post up here for our benefit, not something I can imagine was easy to do at this very personal time.. love and blessings to the family at this time... I only met Andrew a few times, and he really stood out as a soul that made folk welcome in the club what ever their background... knowledge second to none... and real passion... very sad news... a true gentleman as many have said...

I am deeply saddened to hear the news of Andrew's passing & would like to join everyone in sending my thoughts and prayers to Nick and his family.

As others have said, Andrew was particularly welcoming to new members. Just a couple of months into my membership I had the good fortune to spend a couple of hours in conversation with Andrew at Carfest 2014 as we sheltered from the incessant rain. Needless to say, my knowledge of Alpines increased tenfold in that short time.

I feel privileged to have known this genuine, passionate, warm-hearted, lovely man

Like others I am deeply saddened by this news.

I never met Andrew face to face but I had conversed with him many times on this forum and via email about Alpine issues. He was always helpful with any issues I had Alpine related (and was a great source of knowledge) and last year when I had an issue with my rotor arm mount he kindly sent me a spare one he had lying around. Although I offered him money for it and the postage and packaging he would not accept and insisting he was happy to help another Alpine owner, and keep another Alpine on the road. This shows what a true Gentleman Andrew was and his love of Alpines.

Nick - my condolences go out to you and your family at this difficult time.
