GTA under restoration for sale ( With Options )

Postby The Saint » Mon Feb 08, 2016 2:52 pm

As a few of your know, I have my GTA Turbo, up at “RATS” for a de-rot and an engine rebuild, after an oil pressure issue I had, that turned into a full on “Backstreet” nightmare.
Anyway, for those out there that are in the market for a rot free GTA , with a rebuilt engine, this is your chance to grab a good one that has had all the work sorted.
PLUS if you act now, while the engine is all in parts, Lee has the option to upgrade the engine with better pistons and cams, then fit a better turbo and ECU with hi-flow injectors, and no extra labour costs.. This will boost the BHP up to around 250/300BHP.. Lee will also backup this work.. So if you want a great fully sorted track day car, then now’s your chance…
The car has ABS and full leather as well…. For more info and if you want to choose what options you want, then contact Lee at RATS…

For those that are asking... some pics.

BTW, The exhaust is a custom made stainless steel straight though system. It is not loud, and has no restriction. :D Likes to throw flames on the over run...

End of day, if no one buys it, then I will just keep it, and leave it locked in the garage.. Someone will want it one day.. after others have rotted away!! :thinking

Will be a totally sorted car when done with mods or not but now's the time to have the bells and whistles as it's all apart ...
Will have all rot sorted, new warrantied engine as fully rebuilt .Paint is good ,16/17" Azev's,Gaz shocks,Leather,ABS,custom stainless backbox etc etc etc
Has stainless main water pipes and will have new ali rad and twin fans .Running gear all in good order but again can be swapped out for freshly powder coated throughout as I have all in stock ready to bolt on ..

Engine upgrades are fairly straightforward and well proven MoFo tech .Cams, turbo, injectors and ECU mod will give usable 275/300 .Without cams we are running a couple of cars over 250 and very much road friendly 610 power in a GTA :up
You are going to save a grand + on fitting this package if you spec it with the purchase :thinking

You haven't said to the folks out there how much you want for the car.

OK well as this is a burning question, that you will all want to know... My expectation for a fully sorted and safe car, in its basic form ( Standard engine etc etc ) with a fully warranted engine is going to be at least in the 10K mark.
Yes you read that right!! Just think about the amount of work that has gone into ANY of the projects on here. We all know the costs and to buy a car knowing that it has had all the rot removed plus a recon engine ( standard or not!) is going to cost you.
The main thing about this car, is that you can buy it and drive it... Enjoyment from the get go!!
I also will be able to sleep at night, knowing that I have sold a car, that will not kill someone.
When I sent this GTA to RATS, I thought it was a good car, it has a MOT and I had driven it at speeds over 140MPH so imagine my horror when I found out, the front cross member was thinner than paper :o
These cars are all now showing their age, and will need the work this car is getting. Its up to you, if you want to pay for a cheap car and risk it falling apart when your "Giving it the beans".
I will hold my hands up and be honest here... I just wanted to sell this car, and had taken the car to one of those "back street" places to do work on it, changing the clutch, fitting the stainless water pipes etc etc, hoping to sell it quick. I was asking 5 to 6K tops. but when the oil pressure issue came to light, and I took it to RATS, it was only then that the "Back street" F***K ups came to light, and the fact that even the MOT guys don't see the potential death traps some of these cars are becoming.
I am now paying the price for it. This rebuild hit my pocket hard. ( As I am still in the middle of the A610 restoration ) So yes I feel I can justify what I am asking.
With ALL the upgrades I would expect it to be around 15K, but that would depend upon the level of parts supplied by lee and his costs. I am only saying, that while the engine is in parts, that a potential buy can choose what they want at no extra labour costs in fitting them.

So take my advise... NEVER use a back street garage, thinking all has been sorted. Paying out good money for sub-level work. keep to your Alpine specialist, it pays in the long run. Think to yourself... "Is my car safe to drive at speed??" get it checked!
Any questions please feel free to ask myself or even Lee.. any inspection welcome.

Martin,
I am very seriously thinking that!! I have told Lee to put better cams and "Other" goodies, into the rebuilt engine, so the idea of keeping it is not that far off!!
I will need to use the GTA for a few weeks, once I get it back, as my daily run-about ( Smart Roadster ) needs a clutch and some pre-mot work. But a good price is always tempting, and next week the "New" Alpine is making its appearance... so the public will become aware of these hidden gems.... and I am sure the values will start to rise with demand..

Its tempting..... Very tempting....

plus I've got a new compressor wheel to try for grunty 300hp mark without going to the bigger laggier t4 wheels, or the old design t34 compressors that have a narrow efficiency band... I can't give too much away, and you won't find it in a turbo near you shall we say... but here's the line up... t34 left, faulksie mystery compressor middle just made, 60 trim A610 right... looking for a good home and test bed, I had 2 made :-) ..

Very interesting Martin, could this wheel be finding its way onto a certain blue GTA which yourself and Lee have already waved a
magic wand over?
