Best Roads Thread

Have had some spectacular drives in Wales with and without other Alpines. The Tour of Wales which Andrew very ably organised had us visiting many great places. One of my favourites, a road from Betws-y-Coed to Bedgellert is pictured below. It had everything. I went for a quick spin one early February morning (you can tell by the snow that it was cold and crisp but beautifully sunny), heading out from Chester to Wrexham and then on to Llangollen. I then decided to just keep going without any plan, no real idea where I was heading and ended the trip some 310 miles later on what was probably the most enjoyable drive I have ever had. Just man and machine as one. It's what these cars are about.

I can't get the link to embed properly.

This is a nice little road beside me, in fact, at about 2;13 , just after he passes the cattle grid, my house is on the top of the hill on the other side of the water.
I'm blessed to live in a beautiful part of the country

The road's a little narrow for real fun in the daytime, but in the dark when you can see if anything's coming, it's a blast !!

The same road, going a bit further, and on the other side of the lake, my house is at 0;29, on the hill on the left. :wave

Check out the depth of the snowdrifts around the 10- 11 minute mark....... :crazy

Yeah that area has some pretty stunning roads but for me having travelled a fair bit across Europe now, for the best tarmac in Europe and outstanding scenery and mega driving roads with hardly any cars it's northern Spain The national park.

I agree, the whole of the Pyrenees both sides of the border have some amazing and empty roads.

Alpineandy, I agree. Epic, epic roads, I was there in November driving the Caterham back from Italy to the UK. Hugely lucky with the weather which made all the difference!
