GTA - Parts Bin

Postby nz90125 » Mon Dec 28, 2015 6:33 pm

Hi Guys
Ive read and heard that the GTA is made using many parts from the Renault parts bin.
Besides the R25 what other model parts are suitable replacements for the GTA.
Ive been offered a R21 is it worth my while. Its just had new front disc rotors and pads recently.
I was hoping to find a link, section on suitable donor parts but no joy.
Would anyone whos found common parts between the GTA and ............... please advise.
Cheers and happy New Year from down under
David

There are a few suggestions here and also a link to a previous thread. If you try forum alpine Renault (in French) there used to be a cross reference list there too.
However...It's not as easy as you'd imagine...yes everything comes from elsewhere (usually) but often the Gta is the more common car now. That makes the other sources really rare. Try European sites as opposed to the uk as they can often help. We don't have that many old cars on the roads in the uk outside the classic car scene. Other countries run them for longer, so spares are easier to get. Blame salt and company cars for our relatively short car lives in the uk.
There are many nearly the same parts (like Citroen bx front calipers for Gta rear....apart from all the seals and the handbrake arms).
Renault espace is also a good source of some bits. Try getting the engine code and starting there too. The major prv engine types atmo, turbo and a610 have sisters in other cars so some parts can move over.
Suspension is mainly espace and ren 25 at the front, bespoke at the rear.
Cheers
Lee

There was (maybe still is) a german Alpine club site with quite a good list of A310 parts used on other cars. Unfortunately I've lost the link.... What did surprise me was that the 'other car' could be pretty much anything European including Fiats, BMWs and of course French stuff...
Alpine A110, Renault Safrane 2.5dt, Hudson Kindred Spirit (Renault powered), transAlp (Honda) and Ducati Multistrada

Hi David,

Not much on a Renault 21 worth having as spares for the GTA I'm afraid, discs and pads are uber cheap new anyway. I'd give it a miss if I was you.

Hi David
I see you are from New Zealand
Me too - I am in Tauranga, and I own a black weber carbed 86 GTA (just back from full respray currently undergoing engine and gearbox refresh plus fitting of stainless headers, plus a blue 90 Atmo with the same carb conversion, ABS, leather and aircon.
my email is graeme@purches.co.nz - be keen to catch up.
I purchased both my cars (the 86 over 5 years ago and in 2014) from Auckland owners who both still own GTAs.
I see there is an imported left hook GTA with no rego or WOF on trademe
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... 1007866324
for $15k.
I had my two cars professionally valued by Mark Joblin last year - the 86 came in at $22,500 and the 90 $23,000.
