A610 - Xenons

Has anyone fitted Xenons to the A610 before? I am a bit scared by the headlights - I can't see the road properly when there's another car coming in the opposite direction...

The headlights are a bit poor on dip...are the reflectors in decent shape? (I have a good set available if not...). Dismantling to change bulbs is a pain (like most jobs) the push to release studs are probably jammed up and no longer available. Brighter standard bulbs are available, and the originals could be quite old, so you should see a difference.
You may need something like this to replace the quick release fastenings...

Xenons are technically illegal as the car wasn't homologated with them, doesn't have automatic height adjustment or washers, but a friendly MOT man will probably let it go (they are supposed to check, just like they are supposed to check the cat is still there).

I pooped my pants coming back from Dieppe this year in the dark in my Gta, so I'm trying some Osram nightbreakers, a few geezers on bike forums have recommended them.
110% more light and 35 metre longer beam, might be all ballax, but they seem better, but as I haven't returned to the same conditions to do a back to back test who knows? I'd say they were worth the £15 easy though, slot straight in.

I think not being able to see is more likely for me being blinded by the oncoming HID equipped bender wagons, six foot up in the air straight into my face, that and my mincers are about as much use as pickled onions these days.

80/100W - 'For OFF-Road Use Only. (Not DOT Approved)'

Obviously I only use them on private roads....

I think you can get 90/130W but I'd start to worry about cooking the wiring.

If you wired them direct with an appropriate relay, they should be ok. Probably quite easy seeing the battery is in the front. The only problem might be uprating the alternator to cope. Still it would be preferable & much cheaper than trying to go down the xenon route.

80/100 s should be fine as is, no need to change anything (certainly been the case on the GTA).
I'm just here for the gasoline.

Thanks all. I have ordered a Xenon kit. I fitted some to my Quadra as the headlights on that were so poor it was positively dangerous!

I will let you know how I get on.

My friendly MOT centre fits Xenons for its customers and passes those cars fine! I checked with them.

Xenons will use less current than halogens. The only thing is that the lights will probably need to be adjusted downwards a bit.

In my time driving the 21 with them (admittedly only a few months) I have only been flashed once.
