Drive out days

Postby Custard » Tue Oct 20, 2015 8:57 pm

Just I thought after the various conversations on a couple of threads, I know we have use it day. But how about we organise occasionally a meet up with a drive out. I know time is precious for a lot of people but it would be pretty good fun I load of alpines all together around the English countryside.

To make it interesting and different person takes us on their favourite Drive when they use their Alpine Then A pub lunch and then home. Or something along those lines just an idea. :A610

Inundated with response I see Stuart?

If you liaise with Tony Smith who currently holds a meet in the Kent area maybe you could get a larger event going next year?

Hopefully if all is well Turbodog will be putting a Tour of North Wales together for next year or the following so keep an eye out for that one as its well worth the long trip.

Prescott is one I always recommend also as it's a cracking event. No driving unless you are competing but maybe you could do a bit of a run with other members on your way up.

Quite a few members in your neck of the woods also so I would say if you want it to happen have a go at organising it yourself and put a post in the meetings section.

I will be doing the next Northern event in March/April time next year so stay tuned for that one. Sacking the usual January meet as the turn out is getting poorer each year. If I leave it later hopefully the garage queens will come out to play.

Come the spring we could definitely add a driving element to the Kent meet. Roads are pretty good round there.

That's a good idea. Yeah I am down near Goodwood and I am fortunate that there are some amazing driving roads going west north of the downs which are just fantastic I don't travel the 272 because of the boys in blue plus there's far too much traffic not like the old days. But the other roads which most people don't know about are fantastic, scenery good fast driving and good viewing points and some nice pubs. All I was thinking was that everyone must have their favourite driving roads which may be some of us could all experience and have a laugh.

Mr Custard makes a good point here....
We all have our favourite roads... What about making a list? Then maybe we could try a few out and find the best....??
Just an idea... but can we keep it in the UK...

I'd be up for this, only 40 mins away from Ringwood / West Moors for me.
