Thanks for the invite Steve but alas I'm going to have to pass and Florence is going to have to remain under her cover.....I have a family wedding that I know I can't wriggle out of.....Im sure it will be a great event, look forward to the pics.

As others have said im sure this event will stimulate interest in the brand and help drive firm valuations upwards...I hope :Cheer

Best buy that LHD A610 wreck and get the duct tape out then...it's not quite as low milage but not far off.
LHD and RHD A610 shells aren't that different. If a low mileage RHD is 40k, LHD has to be worth 50k...?

I can't see it actually selling for £42k despite the mileage. To be honest, I'm not convinced you wouldn't have to spend a few quid if purchased. In my experience, low mileage isn't necessarily a good thing and lack of use definitely isn't. It may be low mileage but it is still a 24 year old car.

The whole classic car market is stupidly over inflated at the moment and the later Alpines seem to have been completely overlooked which is our fault for not hiking the prices up and being greedy like every other car club fraternity. So in that respect, it is a good thing to see it at that price. Put it this way, if you had one for sale for £18k now, it would look a bargain to the less informed. I might just put mine on PH for £54,995 (cus yellow ones are worth 25% more) to help this guy out :wave

Indeed we should just "sell" cars to each other at inflated prices...the perception of value, and sheep mentality is what drives prices in a bubble.
All this said...the launch price of GTAs and A610s would be £65k to £70k in today's terms....so I think 42k for a low mileage one may not be too bad.
When the value of cars goes up though you probably get a different type of buyer..arguably less hands on...more collectors/investors...not always a good thing.

Rumour is it changed hands last time for £28K so £14K quite a tidy profit.

Realistically it might make new money today so may be £35K if someone wants it badly enough.

Who knows it may even make £40K if the seller is prepared to sit on it long enough in a rising market.

Where will you find another.

I think all Alpine's have been undervalued in relation to other classic motors & have been left somewhat behind by the recent classic car boom. This is probably down to rarity I think. Demand drives the market & if a car only sold 68 times when new in the case of the 610, then there's probably not many people that remember it & hanker after it 20 years later. This is why the prices on the continent are so much higher as there were far larger numbers sold originally. If the new car launches & is more of a success, I think interest will be sparked & prices for the classic versions will rise. But let's face it, we own one because we loved them first time around & not as an investment. Still it would be good to know I could recoup all the money I've ploughed into mine if need be should prices rise!
