Distributor Cap

Postby paulrob100 » Sat Jul 25, 2015 8:36 pm

Hi Guys

My GTA turbo has a misfire from idle that clears at about 1500 revs. The car goes ok but I want to get to the bottom of it.

I have changed the plugs & plug leads & was going to change the distributor cap next. however when I looked at it, one of the fixing bolts is missing, I think it has been snapped off. The cap looks as if its warped slightly with the heat. Access is obviously tight, but I want to replace the cap & rotor arm.

Can anyone recommend the best place to buy a cap & rotor arm. Also, is it best to remove the alternator belt to get better access to the bottom bolt, bearing in mind I may have to extract a broken piece of bolt.

Thanks, Paul

I don't know if this is the best place, but it is one place which you may find of interest.

I bought mine from Halfords, I believe it is a shared part with BMW E30 or E34.
