You wait ages for one .........3 A610 and one GTA builds in progress .




One thing to note on the later blocks is deck height .Most if not all have negative liner protrusion ,ie under deck with no shim .They all need double shimming .This is on liners with 3 notches (3l) and also the GTA 2 notch in a cross bolt block .
Now .....either they were happy with less protrusion on the later blocks or it's an error as all have just the mid thickness shim installed .Who knows but I'm still getting them 8/9 thou above and whanging up the heads to a torque figure relative to angle set average .
New toy for the RATMAN has arrived and will be put to good use over the next few days .

Is there any chance they 'sink' with use, bearing in mind the ally is only softish, I had to double shim my engine on four pots, and also had a tiny difference in protrusion on the inside of the bank and the outside, not much, but it took some heed scratchin' when I was doubling up and close to max, I was using a dial gauge and got a bit carried away, ........getting up in the night and rechecking them in only me pants ............like you do....

Could it be that the later head gaskets were thicker and created the seal at the top on the fire ring?

Or Renault realised that's how it worked in practice and that it was just as effective.
