Scrap yard

Have lots of annoying foibles on my car that I'd like to sort out, mostly trim stuff as already posted. Does anyone know of a scrapyard that actually breaks GTAs???

When I first got my GTA (couple of years ago now unfortunately), Cleave Motor Salvage http://www.cleavemotorsalvage.com had a couple that they were breaking - its a long shot but perhaps worth contacting them to see if there is anything left.

If you contact Specialist Renault Breaker on 0154 386661 and ask for a guy called Sandy. This company has been quietly breaking GTAs and has quite a few parts in stock. e.g drive shafts, sub frames, doors, instruments .. etc ..
If you look on this website under GTA trivia, you'll see a section named "Cars to cry for" This will show a GTA Le Mans that he has recently broken.

He sold it whole to a bloke from Ireland who is going to rebuild it....D'oh!

Good grief... I had a couple of bits of that car..... absolutely f**ked.

Heavy side impact and a roll, no panels left, no glass to speak of, had been sitting out for a year or so.

Rebuild... well, I'll be impressed.

However, it has saved me a trip, I was going to go back there to get a few bits!!

The same chap also bought the 'melted' Le Mans from Birmingham, so maybe a good one out of the two or even both back on the road!

I have actually gone and ordered all the trim bits through my very helpful local dealer.....all still allegedly available new, but delivery dates could be a long way away on some bits!!!! The steering wheel cowling I wanted was £40!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm glad I worked a couple of rest days last month buying parts is making my wallet squeak!

That's a bargain, the handbrake or gear surround (can't remember which) is more like £80!

Let me know if the steering cowling turns up. I've never managed to get one through but they may have been remanufactured now.

Anyone else got a high level rear brake light like that on the engine cover

If you are after a high level brake light, like me perhps you feel that the standard brake lights are a bit dim. Well I've cosidered 2 options. Rewire the brake lights as the fog lights (very bright) and vice-versa. Or wire all 4 together, just need 4 diodes to prvent feedback to fog swicth and allow fogs to still work independantly. Only down side of wiring all 4 together is that the brake light circuit will draw double the standard current and I'd hate any looms to overheat, but that's what a fuse is for. Both options should be fine for the MOT testers.

I'm looking for a piece of interior trim, the oblong surround where the drivers seat belt goes through the panel into the inertia reel? any ideas?

You werent joking when you said the Le Mans was knackered!!!!!!! Those photos.....my word, its not accurate to describe it as a car as only about 1/2 of it is there! Simon, will let you know about the cowling, patrs guy reckoned they would have already sent him an unavailable note if it wasnt going to turn up. You can also update your no. plate section in the trivia bit......B19 GTA is going on my car next week! Picked it up on Ebay for just over £500 which I thought was a bit of a bargain. If I didnt have to park in a yard next to traffic dept. that 9 would look a lot more like a G!!!! Reckon in a few years time once Alfa Romeo have sold a few more GTA models it'll be worth a lot more than I paid.

hi simon, your idea for fog lights as brake lights is unfortunatly illegal, and therfore not an mot pass. the light patterns for the fog light is totally different from the brake light and would dazzle the driver behind. you don't want any of those point and fine things form the police!
