If its the one that I went to with Martin the day my alternator packed up then I'll stand by my previous comment, if its somewhere different obviously I'm not in a position pass judgement :0). 280bhp would seem reasonable but Johns claiming substantially more than that for his car (with the boost turned up to 11 mind).

To answer the question Tony, the correct answer is -

The dyno in question is a Dynocom Racing DC1250 - 1250 bhp rated inertia unit, with a 750 bhp power absorption unit for adding static load if required. Right, so next question - when was it installed - answer June 2010. I can expand on the calibration, as the manufacturer has been over to Peter to verify this subsequent to the install, and maintenance and consistency of results has been logged since; noting that as far as the inertial roller goes, simply put, the weight of the rolls would need to change, or increased friction in the bearings for the calibration to drift... As to the PAU this is checked against dead weights, as this is coupled through a torsion beam and load cell. So it's not old, nor seen better days..

You are most welcome to your opinion, but I think most would agree it is better if it is actually based on fact LOL ... as the Prefect would say to the sophomore - dunk head in ... :toilet

As to Peter's pedigree, speaks for itself really, data from 2005 only, but can see on his site:

But I agree, they are best used as a comparator... most open to having a challenge date at a place of your choosing
:up

Enjoy!

Its not the rolling road I went to then because that was before 2010 so as I said in the original post if its not those rollers then I'm not in a position to pass judgement. Its not about power its about how fast it goes surely :crazy

Rolling road day would be great.
Never saw my car move on the rollers and no vid was ever published.(apparently it was super hot, with lots of burning rubber no I meant plastic haha)
So yes let's sort out a date.
Martin when are you taking your mate Lewis or luigi blue super BHP car up for a tune.
Would love to tag along, them southerners as lee says like to keep it under wraps.
(don't seem to be able to use a calendar either makes me laugh now.)

And forget about helping fit an engine, that's a serious no-no clearly to much for health and safety.
As opposed to Lee at RATS where he's happy to oblige. Where's that picture of me in the engine bay loved it.

Once you see it on the rollers you won't want to put it on again, I've blown 2 exhaust manifolds on rolling roads so I stick to road mapping now which seems to work better for my car. Rather do a Bruntingthorpe day in the autumn. A car with less power can still be quicker, its all about the torque curve.

... smile, well indeed it was the rolling road, as per for your evidence:
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=4358&start=60
.. but I know days of old and knights were bold... it seems further back than that, thankfully you can say, it wasn't...

So here's something really rather lovely and more current, Peter had this Formula 3 Ford 998 on the chassis dyno today, and interestingly it came with an engine dyno sheet.... 120 bhp... so go on then the gallery shouts, what did it give on 'em oldie worldie antiquated rollers from 2010.. well, 100 bhp at the wheels, with a run-down loss correction giving 117 at the engine... graph below, not a bad cross comparison, whether it was + or - that kind of tolerance would be good in my book... darn, 'em good ole boys aint bad are they... and pretty good with an axe :axe :D We definitely take this stuff far too seriously... I can't seem to be able to get the size of a fuel tank right at the moment... 3rd time lucky I think...

... hang on, that hasn't got much of a fuel tank either... lol...

Dave,

I'll let you know what I'm up to in good time, and feel free to make up your mind. :) But as far as ecu tuning goes, I can think of people far better and more experienced than me, and moreover the setup you have now is quite nice and well balanced... it is an easy thing, and we all do it... of getting used to what we have and then wanting a little more, I seriously suggest keeping a nice margin for reliability that you have now... If you really wanted to go that next step, then either go back to the guys that have already setup your ecu, or possibly a few of us could go to Scoff, as his daily job is ecu tuning, I can't come close to that experience...

Cheers,
Martin

Still not quite sure what relevance a bloke who's great with MGB engines and older stuff running carbs is to tuning more modern stuff. Maybe the RR was new back then but it certainly didn't appear so, and the place is a shack which is full of old bits and pieces - look at the pics you just posted. I'm not dissing the guy , he's obviously very good at what he does - but that isn't GTA s. I'd just rather see some verified performance figures like a test day or 1/4 mile slip - they can be directly compared (with maybe a little difference if the days were hot/cold)

.
The relevance is simple - you stated they were antiquated and inaccurate, quite how you fathomed that I don't know, and I have simply pointed this out to be incorrect. I think that matter is simple and closed.

As to the GTA performance envelope, totally agree – put it on track, the clock doesn’t lie… never said it did, nor made any claim around it… and actually think it is a worthy test, so more than happy to support a Brunt day or anything like that we can all get to… besides, it’s a lot of fun! :D

Scoff is excellent with the Adaptronic, not sure weather he does the Emerald, but if he does I can heartily recommend him, got my car running so much better than anybody else has. If I was you i'd go for a 1.2-1.3 bar map for full power and a 0.8-0.9 bar map for daily use ( I use 0.9 and 1.2 - Scoff wanted to go further but I think much more is going to overly stress the drive train) should give you around 285 and 320bhp with great torque and driveability.

I accept I was wrong but the setting gave me that impression, obviously i didn't inspect the rollers, but you have to accept it doesn't quite look like most rolling roads you go too, and the cooling does look limited for tuning a 300bhp rear engined car- but not for an MG or a mini :up
