can this be opened?

Hi all,
Sorry, don't know what this is called... Can it be opened so I can rewire, all wires in bad state or shall I just get a new one? If this is the case, from where?

That's the Renix ecu throttle switches, you don't want that, you are on the Adapt ecu setup from Dave Miles, so you should be on a throttle pot instead ... not that old pile of poo belle Go have another rummage in your parts boxes

Whilst I was away sorting out a response to Cedric's question ... Finding a similar connector, digging out the special tool and taking pics, You say it doesn't matter anyway.
But having got all the info now, and for future reference for others, here is what you do:-



If you are into electrical repairs in a big way on these Alps, I would recomend you get the correct tools. They come in a pack of two like the green one (the other is red) and there are many different type pin remove/install between the two. They cost about £20 for the pair, but considering the problems associated with removing the pins with small screwdrivers with the risk of damage to the pin its self, well worth the money.
But one VERY IMPORTANT point when removing pins from these connectors ... appart from the barbs which are flattened with the tool, do not hold on to the body of the connector when inserting the tool .... allow it to float. Hold the wire where it exits from the connector. There is a secondary lip inside the connector, and if you hold the body and pust the tool, the action will inhibit the barbs from retracting, but by holding the wire, the body will, move its self away from the lip and you will be very surprised to see how easy the pin will come out.
The other advantage of the tool is that it can be used to retighten female pins by sliding the tubes tool over the female pin returning it back to its original dimentions.
Just remember before reinserting the pins to reset the barbs.
Another small point seeing the condition of these wires, and having myself seen in Macon the condition of the wiring in the GTA turbo's and A610's, every owner should have some spiral wrap as seen in pic below under their bonnets in the event of insulation on wires breaking off. It will always get you home and it is so effective that urgent attention is not required as it will perform perfectly allowing time to get the job done at a time convenient to yourself.
It only costs about £2 for a pack which, from memory, is at least 1 or 2 meters in length from Maplins. Correction ... just checked with Maplins, Cost £2.29, length 10 meters, Code SJ26D, that is for 3mm int' diam', just the right size to wrap a damaged wire.
The pic shows just how easy it is to fit without having to remove pins from connectors.

Unfortunately looks like it wasn't provided to you when you bought the engine and Adapt setup.... so no point looking for it, you don't have it, look over to Dave and John Bi-turbo thread in projects, this is what you want, I'm sure John will sort you out, I'm sure it was just an oversight... Adapt kit not much good without it...

I've had some bespoke TPS brackets laser cut in stainless, works well. Got some for sale anythings better than running around with something like this on your car...




Injectors sent away to be cleaned and flow and spray pattern tested.

The "Terminal de-mounting tools" came from "Vehicle Wiring Products Ltd" in Derbyshire. Product reference is:- 70399, and I paid a total of £24.47 ex VAT, but inclusive of P&P.
