auxilliary fuel tank question

I am changing my fuel pump, which isn't as straight forward as I originally thought. To avoid being doused in fuel I will be draining thr aux fuel tank.

My question is, do I need to do anything to refill it or will the lifter pump sort it for me? I don't want to risk running the new pump dry.

Just prime it a couple of times on the key without starting but it'll take no harm .

Its turned out to be a bigger job that it looked. The new Bosch 44 pump is quite a bit bigger and kinks the supply hose plus doesn't fit in the bracket

So I am tweaking the supply hose, modifying the bracket and will probably increase the outlet hose to the filter from 6 to 8 mm, especially as I had to cut the outlet hose off the old banjo. I would like to mount a new bracket but can't see how I would get to the other side to pass bolts through.

Need to get it sorted before Le Vie en bleu, think I will need a few sets of 40 mins!

The day job is pretty intense at the moment, I have a new JV to set upo and fund by the end of May.

I reckon it will take me 30 minss to attache each push on fitting, plus i just hate working under the car, I dont trust axle stands and I am old and inflexible!

For the trial fit on friday I was lucky, my neighbours son popped home - he is a motorsport mechanic and had a suitable small ratchet and knuckle to get the pump bracket off, he is also much better than me and operating push on fittings!
