Yea you could get a F355 however the Venturi has the running costs of a Clio 172!!!! They are cheap as chips to run!! Richards is properly mint and is one of two Bi turbos also should be faster than a frazza!

not if you want to change the spark plugs :shock: ........ isn't easier to change the clutch in a GTA?......

Sorry to disappoint but the F355 is quicker (on paper at least) also being an na engine will have less lag etc. I can personally vouch for the F355, and they getter as you go faster. at 173mph on the autoroute it was planted and the temps were going down :)

Venturi is more rare

And when it goes Ferrari reliability BANG :shock: @175MPH it's how much to rebuild the engine in comparison to £6,000 for a PRV :lol: but, then it is a Ferrari isn't it 8)

Its nice to own something that nobody else does ....its nice when a Ferrari pulls up alongside you and everybody else is looking at the Ferrari, but the owner of the Ferrari is looking at you :wink: :lol:

Si, you aren't Venturi nerdy enough yet, bi turbo isn't PRV, it's the laguna/Clio v6 engine (L7x). :lol:
That means cam belt changes and inaccessible coil packs.....
Still I always love a challenge..but not at that price, sorry Richard it's unique, beautiful and in fab condition but is it worth 15k more than a "normal" ( and sill very rare) single turbo PRV atlantique?

Hi Lee your right I know little about the venturis, I wrongly assumed it was a twin turbo' PRV due to the relatively low power output :shock:

TBH The extra weight of the cams valves etc alone and a normally aspirated puts out just 250bhp compare it to M3's power output in excess of 300 bhp without turbos.let alone twin turbos surely that spec engine has alot more potential to go :shock: :?:

I thought they were getting 260 - 300bhp.from the PRV perhaps thats why I wrongly assumed the lump was a PRV.

Oh well thanks Lee live n learn :lol:

I agree I love unusual cars, I own and alp and have had Ginettas etc. But the F355 is a very very good car for its era and would be my Ferrari of choice (ignoring the obvious classics). The Venturi is great but for me doesnt have the je ne sais quoi of the Ferrarii. 355 engines are pretty reliable and servicing is cheaper than my Tuscan.

Thanks for the interest in the Venturi.

Turbos are variable vane type. Zero lag.
Regarding access for servicing etc. Every 3 years or so I would remove engine etc for timing belt, water pump, spark plugs and the single coil pack thus ensuring reliable running.
It was a £63,000 car when new and requires similar labour times to Ferrari but the parts are so much cheaper. Genuine Citroen parts used.

Please base assumptions on having driven one of the two right hand drive Atlantique 300 Biturbos.
Flights are very cheap to Belfast and you can drive it until you're hearts content.

I have driven the F355, and have no doubt the Venturi is great, and in a better economy for construction I would be interested, but choice wise against an F355 I think its a no brainer for the same money, much like an Esprit Turbo v Ferrari.

I'm not convinced about zero lag either - sorry even the very latest twin turbo's have some lag, did Venturi/Renault develop something with the Laguna engine that no one else did? If so I am amazed that it hasn't been rolled out into other cars. Zero lag only comes with na or a supercharger in my experience.

I think the Venturi is is lovely, rare and no doubt quick, just by having cheaper parts does not make it an obvious choice against its competitors.

Would I buy it? Yes but it would share the garage with the F355 I had bought first.

All my opinion and all a moot point as austerity and construction are bad for my wealth.

Thanks, but like I say, zero lag. I think I kinda understand lag, boost is as strong from the get go until the red line.
The turbos are very unusual units. No oil pressure feed or water cooling.

The best advert for buying the Atlantique 300 is being able to get your golf clubs in the boot. :lol: How many supercars can boast that?? Certainly not the 355.

I know of a car that can trump that...you can carry 2 kids in the back of it and when they are at school Daddy can fold these rear seats down to get 2 sets of golf clubs and a trolley in the back :wink: Plus there is even more room in the boot for a packet of cigars!
