That cat looks very similar to the one on mine, not a surprise I suppose! Anyway if Clee looks closely, assuming he could be ars+d, he should find a Porsche part number on it that will more than likely have either of the numbers 964, 965 or 993 in that part number. He will also see some welding on the exit pipe of the cat. This welding is because Venturi cut the exit pipe and re-welded it back in place at a slightly different angle to suit this installation!!

These numbers relate to the model/project numbers of the car the cat would have been fitted to, 964 = 1989 to 1993 Carrera 2 or 4, (911),
965 = Turbocharged 964 1990 to 1994
993 = 1994 to 1998 Carrera 2 or 4, all air cooled

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porsche_911

Any way before I forget why I started this, I recognised my Venturi 260 APC had a Porsche 964 cat on it as I have a 964 that has been de-catted and the cat is in my garage so it was used to check against the Venturi one. I was happy it was the same but I shot down to my Porsche Specialist who also checked and agreed. The upshot was I ordered a de-cat pipe from Haywood & Scott and my specialist fitted it for me, hey presto one de-catted Venturi that ran much more smoothly slightly quicker and sounded better, but still a bit too quite. But on the bright side it now spits flames!! LOL oh what fun! :lol: 8)

This went home today and we think has working AC .Bit difficult to judge this time of year :lol: It showed no issues on vac/pressure drop and re-gass + can hear the comp pulling in .
Got all gears all the way home, although then it never failed for me I'm confident the slave was the main cause of the random selection issue .

Home garage is empty as is drive apart from Juzz's and Slumdog one side so I'm taking the chance to paint the walls .Need to get some better lighting in as well but just doing the walls will be a big help .

The MOT guys over the yard emptied it .Trouble only comes with the old r12 as they do not want to contaminate their gear so won't do it if it has that .
Luckily it's 134a .

you are 10 years out of date. R134A being a HFC hence a "greenhouse" gas, must be recovered, whats more,for the past 18 months or so you now need a F gas certificate to even attempt repair on an appliace using it.
The only refrigerant that can be released to air are hydrocarbons (R600A.)
I dunno, things folks get away with in the motor trade.

Lol! F@ck me! What about the hundreds of cars that loose their gas in an accident/crash or stone punctures to the a/c rad??

In NI we burn thousands of tyres every 11th July night. Pretty toxic stuff going up into the auld sky! No one ever thinks to say to the guys building the fire that the tyres might pose an environmental hazzard. I've seen those head bangers walking up the middle of the road and firing off a volley of shots from hand guns before lighting the bonfire!

Old A/C gas??? Really??? Phifff!

Yep quite agree. The giant data / hardcopy storage warehouses where we had the office years ago had Halon 1301. Nasty ozone depleting gas yes, but massively effective in stopping fires at <1% concentration.

So factor in the other option of letting it all burn (plastics etc included) and I know what I'd bet on as having the most environmental impact. Oh and then you've lost millions of pounds of data which will have to be re-shot or remastered. Brilliant.

I went to the Aberdeen site a few years ago and they've replaced the Halon system with about 100 massive high pressure tanks of CO2 - the whole system is designed to fire at once and totally saturate the atmosphere in the warehouse.

In the words of the guy showing us round "If the fire alarm sounds then run for the exits. You have about one minute and when the system goes off it will literally blow the roof off the building"
I'm just here for the gasoline.
