Radio remote control wiring

Postby Jon K » Tue Jan 08, 2013 9:14 am

Hi All,

I need to wire up the steering remote control to an adapter to go to a Sony head unit. I have the standard Audioleads type adapter for Renaults.

On the adapter there is a square connector which looks like the type from something like my old Renault 19 but on the GTA it has a round 5 pin DIN type connector.

Does anyone have the pin out information on both of these please so that I can knock up an adapter cable?

Paul, I already have the parts and the other bits of the adaptor. If I had the pin out I could then just connect it together.

I only need to convert the square Ren connector to the round DIN one.

I'm sure there used to be an extra connector to convert the Renault DIN to the Sony remote. I got the lot with an Autoleads kit. That wasn't that long ago... I think...

Hi Jon, thanks for that. I have just checked their website and the GTA is still listed. It is a PC9-201 that I need. I will have a shop around for one tomorrow.

I will speak to auto leads direct tomorrow as I deal with them every day, but last time I spoke to them they had stopped production.

Good chance that you might get lucky on eBay, Jon.

What I did find with the Autoleads set was that the radio connector was totally wrong. It was a male/female thing, so I had to make an adapter from one of Autoleads Jeep Cherokee connectors and re-map the wires.

The Sony remote control adapter works a treat, though. Bish-bash-bosh.

Thanks Jon I will watch out for that. It is actually for Dave M's car.

I managed to get one ordered online for £6.50 so hopefully it will be with me in a couple of days. Autoleads said they had plenty so it should turn up.

I'm after the cable to run from the DIN like plug from the steering wheel remote to an Alpine set up... no longer available I think.

I have read this thread and am a bit confused as to what I need.

I want to connect a JVC unit to use the remote on the steering column. I have the ISO adapter for the GTA on order, but am confused as to what I need for the remote.

Can someone spell it out ofr an idiot please: Or even better say "I've got the very thing, send me a small amount of money and I will send it to you" :)

Cheers

Not sure of there is such a thing available for the Remote to JVC? I know there was for Alpine head units but are now not made anymore. Although they do appear on ebay from time to time if you keep a look out.

PaulYA610 might be able to help

I had a jvc in my a610 and used an auto leads(?) universal system, it had a connector for the Renault end and then a cable for the jvc end. I reused most of it when I changed to an alpine radio, I might have the jvc specific bits somewhere but you'll need the Renault specific cable (mk1 espace is the same if I remember correctly), the adaptor box too.
This was all 9 years ago so it might all be NLA.
If the GTA is like the a610 the ISo speaker wiring is wrong too and one of the front channels is reversed in the loom too, you can usually swap them around in the adapter loom. Don't you love these cars.

I can do you a new kit for a jvc but if you tell me what you already have and you may just need a fly lead which is £5 if it is a new kit they are £40
