found these today, the long one is from the top of the screen short one is from the drivers side.they were cut off before a screen was removed so its just the top cover part no channel to hook around the glass but you could stick them over the gap.

and this is what i have for the battery cover as i said it is broken and in three pieces.

Hi Andy

I reckon I can repair the battery cover, so would be interested

The windscreen trim looks like a possibility, although I will probably make a mess of sticking it on, I think I will continue to look at the universal trims, I found some online that I need to measure. I am also going to pay my local windscreen place a visit.

I wish I had borrowed more money a few years ago, a decent PPI claim could pay for all the bits I want to do on the Alp :)

£300 to remove and replace the screen fitting universal rubbers :!:

Screen has to be replaced as it has a couple of small chips the 3 places I took it to said it will break when they remove it. Insurers will only repair chips and not remove the screen.

Premium will go up, on the same policy I claimed for 2 screens last year (both genuine)

oh dear more expense. if you try and do a classic car project on a budget you will end up with an unfinished car if you can't do a lot of the work your self.
if you buy a gta, what ever you spend on it you spend for your own satisfaction and the knowledge that you have improved the condition of the car, and the more you spend and the more you improve your car the more pleasure and enjoyment you will gain from owning and driving your car.
an alpine is not an expense its a life style.

I bought it eyes open, and I like to have things sorted but I know they will take time. Unfortunately the other cars have had a raft of things needed of late and as 2 of them are daily drivers they take priority.

Alp costs much less than the Tuscan to run. Generally I can sort electrics and cosmetics myself, mechanical I leave to the experts.

i am still finding my way around the car hence the myriad of questions I keep asking :)

Never a true word said!! But if this is a project, like my GTA... then walk away now and then... give your bank account time to restock! do some reseach and look about for parts that are used in the Alpine, that are on other cars.. this is what I did over the year it took me to sort my GTA... but as Andy said.. its the Joy of driving it once you have it sorted...
My GTA is still a work in progress... Still having issues with it running lumpy and the engine warning light flashes now and then on full engine load??? but I will keep plodding along until I find the fault...
Mean time its A610 that is getting more attention.. I take a little off fix and replace.. thats all I can do, until I have more funds to put it back on the road...
Never give up we are all here and have been in that same place..

Ang on ,ang on .....

Getting more than a little bit irritated now :lol:

Car has zero rot ( cause I fixed it all ) ,fresh engine build ,rebuilt box ,all new brakes ,all new suspension + running gear + subframe refurbed ,new clutch ,full respray .deep cleaned interior ,new sensors ,full tread sticky rubber ....passed MOT with zero advisories ( they fell over in the station ) goes like stink ( for std ) and handles great according to the owner .....ohh new water pipes ,filters ,plugs ,oils ...fuel line ,pump ......I forget the rest ....refurb turbo ....
I made a bit of a rod for my own back doing this one in this manner but was happy with the result .
It lacks a few tiny bits of trim and has a dodgy fuel sender ...moon ,stick I say .

Just in case we're confused ..

you can give up mate because you have done all the above, a hell of a lot of good work and well done to nick for paying for all this work, all i am saying is don't bodge the rest of the retso take a break get the funds and do it right :wink: simples

Please don't misunderstand me

You have done a great job and my post was not meant as criticism at all, and I don't want anyone else to think that either.

Ultimately its a 25 year old car and not everything is as perfect as the engine and chassis etc.

You know what I am like though, I have car OCD and want to get the other bits as good as I can. This will take time (mainly sourcing the bits) and the knowledge of folk on here and your skills to bring it together.

Of course I have budget constraints, its madness spending £10k on a car thats worth £5 or £6k, so the bits get done a little at a time.

I have used the car quite a bit over the last week, it goes well, it handles well, most of my list is small cosmetic things that weren't in your brief, and are typical issues with these cars. I just aim to get them sorted.

I won't be bodging anything, some things may have a temporary fix. As an example I could have just left the remote locking an used the key, but I found the right unit and fixed it, I am currently looking at having the finned water cooling pipe for the turbo remade, rather than glue on windscreen trim I am looking at removing the screen, I am sourcing the correct tabs to re-connect the heated rear screen (I have checked every part of the element for continuity). I don't see these as bodges.

I want a car that is as good as it can be, Lee has played his part, chassis, engine, gearbox etc.

I also want to use the car, it is not and will never be a garage queen, it gets used for taking kids to school, it gets used for business trips. It did over 600 miles last week.

TBH if I wanted a garage queen I would have focussed the spend on the cosmetics not on all the stuff Lee has done that you can only see if you look under the skin.
