Wipers

Postby blueg33 » Mon Dec 03, 2012 7:52 am

Please can someone tell me if this is right.

My wipers don't overlap their sweep in the middle o fthe screen. The passenger side wiper does not get as far as the centre line (by about 2 inches) and as it lags the drivers wiper I get left with an unswept band about 2 inches wide to right hand side of the bit the passenger looks through.

Mrs B tells me this is very annoying and must be dealt with!

If its how it should be, then that's good. If not does anyone have any hints on sorting it. I couldn’t see anything in the tech section and search seems to bring up the whole forum?

Ta Andy, I thought they "clapped" together a bit more.

Mine whack each other in the middle, even though they aren't quite in sync. The strip of dirty water left in the middle is irritating.

Some do ,some don't touch each other .......
You can make a small adjustment by changing the at rest positions but to alter the actual mechanism is a pita as access is limited and you have a to remove a lot .

My GTA actually has one blade wipe over the others track, and fully clear the screen... it only did this after I rebuild the whole system, but my A610 has that gap in the middle, so I think its a matter of playing with them until you get the best you can from them..... if I get time i will try to put up a video of both cars and the wipe.

Ok I eventually got round to taking a video of my GTA's wipers, to show that one blade goes past the half way mark , and I don't get that line of dirt in the middle.

Yea yea I know the screen has some delamination but I will get round to that another day..

Thanks for the vid. Mine aren't like that, the passenger side needs to come further to the centre.
Another job!

When they are parked, they don't sit exactly the same... one is higher than the other. I tryed to get them the same a few times, but the wiper just hits the trim at the bottom if you do that... so you have to expect them to sit slightly off...

It's an easy job to set the linkage up correctly. Just make sure the spindal that connects to the motor is fitted correctly before making any adjustments at the wiper arms.
Complete motor/linkage removal about 20 mins.
Set up and adjust out of the car about 30-60 mins.
Refit and adjust arms 30 mins.
