My A610 gone to a new owner

Postby jb644 » Sat Nov 10, 2012 7:06 pm

I have sold my A610 to somebody that can restore it to its former glory.
The new owner will be able to give it the time and care that I cannot at this moment it time.
Hopefully the new owner will make himself known soon.

Jason.

I did n't have the time to concentrate on the car Martin. Busy with things at work and the baby etc.

Never say never though, I'll be back with something in the future.

There is a lot of movement at the mo, even the Venturi owners have been selling up, so there have been new owners making there selfs known.

New A610

Postby careon » Mon Nov 12, 2012 12:32 pm

Hi, I have Just bought Jason's A610 and all it seems to have done is rain. Just bit cautious driving in the wet?. Think I have plenty to sort out, but not sure where to start. MOT then respray, seat covers and carpets for a start. i am down in the Midlands, Worcester area.

Cheers Andrew

Welcome to the fold bud, you are near to me must hook up! Re spray talk to andy001 he is the dady for paint, he did my old A610 and my Venturi. As for engine work, RATS aka Clee he is very good with the mechanicals of these cars. Hope you enjoy the car, loved my old A610 such a cool car. If we have another northern meet you should come up it is a nice day, also you must attend Prescott as that is a local event and one of the best French car shows in the uk!!

Getting used to it

Postby careon » Mon Nov 12, 2012 4:35 pm

Trying to get used to it and finding a few odd things, not having driven an A610 before I'm not sure whats normal. First, It seems a bit vague around straight ahead and wanders a little when up at 70 (there is a steering rack on ebay for £270 is it worth it? item 130797376188), not really feeling confident. The brakes are firm with very little feel and bite, could do with a complete strip and sort I guess, A couple of new odd things, the clutch pedal didn't return fully, gave it a wiggle and now is OK and the really weird one - since this morning the drivers window goes down when I lock the car with the remote????? Thanks everyone and hope to meet up soon.

Hi welcome to the fold. My experience of (a single) 610 has been pretty good over the last 7 years (it cant read so I think I'm safe saying that) but they are getting old.
Before you go for a rack go for a full 4 wheel alignment check, made mine much nicer to drive and stopped the tyre wear.
You'll need shims for the rear tracking, but Stephen used to be able to supply and they aren't expensive. I have found them OK in the wet provided the tyres have tread and you behave sensibly and remember there isn't much weight on the front. When it goes its catchable too (again in my experience, but I know that's not a universal result and I am quite timid with it) . In the dry you'll find them incredible, stable, controlled and happy even on very rough roads.
The guy selling this rack was asking £600 recently, I don't know if they are still available from Renault, but the price is about what I paid for mine, 4 years ago or so from a dealer, Stephen will no doubt advise.
On the window, check the micro switch that controls the window travel and make sure its working OK (610 only I'm afraid, but the switch itself is still made) and make sure the car is dry inside, all the body electronics are under the passengers feet and water in there will be difficult to fix. I haven't known anyone have problems with them, but you never know.
The Renault service books used to be on the website but if not can be emailed. Not so sure about the wiring diagrams, but I have a set on paper if no one has them electronically.
Cheers
Lee

I've had most of my braking system replaced/refurbed at different points, and even when it's working well they are hard and without much feel, like you say. However if you use the brakes robustly they are astonishingly good.
