Think you've got that back to front. Front wheels you can get anywhere, rears only Rimstock/Team Dynamics and a couple of others can do without spacers.

Thats not what I am finding. Rears with 15-20 offset are easy in Azevs and Borbets, fronts tend to be 7.7 inch with offset of 35 which I don't think is enough, or am I making a fundamental error?

Front standard offset is a 6 inch wheel with offset of +38. If you go up to a 7.5 inch rim offset ideally needs to be circa 45 except that may stuff up inner clearance.

My order of preference for wheels is
Azev A
Borbet A
Azev M and BBS le Mans style equal 3rd.

If I am making a fundamental error here please let me know

If you do break it, which I doubt! as I feel someone will buy it at the last possible second... I am looking for a stainless exhaust system.. so please keep me in mind.... and that goes for anyone else reading this... If anyone knows a good place to get a stainless system, preferably without any restrictions.... drop me an IM...
I really want this to be sold to a new owner, and not broken up.. My fingers are crossed that you sell it whole. these cars need to be loved and kept on the road!!

I don't think the width of the wheel makes much difference, it's the offset which counts. As you say there are a lot of et 15 or 20 wheels knocking around from the vw and bmw boys. These are a set of 4 though which would look crap on a GTA. The only real way as you say is to buy 2 sets (1 x 7.5j et 35 ish and 1 x 9j et 15) that will make 2 sets of GTA friendly wheels. Or hold out for a set (wish I had kept hold of my set that I sold to Simon Templar).

Clee what happened to my old set of Borbets?

These are nice and might work:

Width matters relative to ET .One has impact on the other for clearance .ET is offset from wheel centerline to mount face .
Borbets went up Newcastle way .Red GTA that was up for sale on pistonheads of late .Cheap car I think .

I am thinking along the line of buying 2 sets, I may then end up with 16 inch at the front and 17 inch rears. I am worried about the front offset. I have just (by mistake on ebay) bought a set of 4 15 x 7.5 Azev's with an offset of 35. They cost me £50, it will be worth trying then to see if the offset is ok.

That set look good, but further research shows that 16 inch rims are going to give similar issues finding rear tyres as 15 inch rims do. It looks like I need 17's.

Not easy this!

All I can say mate is PM me an offer for the stainless, I've got a few people interested in various bits now and the car will do more than the auction starting price with ease in bits so it may be getting broken. A shame, I'd rather see it go as one and someone enjoy it but I need it out the way.

At the end of the day I can't see MOTing it help, if its not going at this low price its not going to go is it! :?

I think it will go for £2k plus on ebay. The last 2 ATMO's needing TLC went for £2k (MOT'd) and £2.2k (No MOT and headgaskets gone) so you should be fine. Let's hope it goes to a good home who will finish it off and it hit's the road again :D

With the work you've put in it'll be a shame to break it, at the asking price I thought it would have gone by now, I'd love it as a daily driver at the price but in process of trying to sell a car myself not a GTA tho so sod's law no funds availble to buy :(
