A610 wipers

Postby jb644 » Tue Sep 18, 2012 6:59 pm

Is the wiper set up the same on the 610 as the GTA? Mine ground to a halt today. I have done a search on here and it mentions putting Wd40 down the spindles on a GTA.
If it needs to come out and be stripped down, is the principle the same as the GTA.

I guess it depends what the cause of the grind to a halt is.

I had mine (GTA) start a go-slow that got very slow during the winter and a bit of WD40 down the spindles that the arms bolt to and teflon lubrication on the linkages, plus some manipulation freed it all up. Worth a go.

Of course, if it's something electrical that's gone, this isn't going to work.

I've no idea whether the motors and linkages are compatible with the GTA but the wiper arms are, as I've got A610 wipers on my GTA (to get the 'hook' type blade fixings)

Believe it or not, according to the parts catalogue, the RHD 610`s are the same as the GTA`s and Le Mans type, whereas the LHD 610`s have the more conventional type. :?

I have managed to get them working using Wd40 on the linkages and down the spindles.
Thanks for the help.

Yes they seize up after time. Short term fix is WD, best way to fix is to remove, strip down the mechanism and grease all the spindles/bolts.
