That depends on how it's financed :wink:
If it remains as a self build it'll have to take a back seat to ' paying jobs ' I could start bolting it back together in earnest though in about a month once current bookings are completed .
I have all the parts here in refurbed or new order .I'm also getting the top end engine loom remade .Still have the heads off so can still go OE or higher lift/tweak to 250 .
How much ?? It depends on level of finish .It has reasonable paint though not pristine .It can certainly past muster against most out there .If tweaked with paint then 8k .As it is in OE spec closer to 5

I have most of the cash waiting but looking at the thread you gave a link too the total price is a little over my budget.

I would be looking for you to put it back together, enhanced performance is good but again I have a budget

So you start in a month and it will take how long to get back on the road?

Is all of the chassis and stuff like door pillars sorted?
What condition is the body and paint work?
Do you have the stereo?
Will it have an MOT?
Will all the geo be done?
Is it possible to view the car in its current state?

It will all be sorted .MOT , set-up ,stereo .Door pillars seem OK .No dropping unusual sounds etc .
There are some very minor rust areas which are already in hand .
Best option is to view the car and discuss options , just give me a call

Hi Mate & Welcome

Good luck in your quest, a piece of advice from me though is to thoroughly check the door pillars prior to purchase, if you flick the carpet trim back inside of door pillar each side you can get in with a thin bendy light to look up there and more importantly get your fingers in to have a good feel inside the box section - have a feel with a screwdriver, any sign of rust or corrosion being felt then you'd be very wise to budget for new door pillars at some time in the future - especially if its on the originals - see the link to my car here:-

The door pillars & doors can actually feel firm although rotted through like my passenger side was, this is due to a very firm adhesive used at manufacture which holds the pillar to outer GRP door pillar and inner door frame, can't beat getting a good old finger in there

I have also been told to look at the rear turrets and the chassis where the steering rack mounts.

yes mate, both definite good spots to check.

To be honest, I'd suggest, with my experience in other marques, if items like the door pillars on the GTA are original and haven't had any work (documented with receipts and/or photos like mine) I'd suggest budgeting it in anyway into the purchase price for future work if the car is planned to be a long term keeper - I know I would if buying another!!

If your a bit handy with a welder and grinder then you don't need to budget much at all!

I'd have a look at the one Clees selling - he knows them inside out so you should be able to buy with confidence

There seems to be an increasing interest in GTA ownership recently which is good.

However there seems to be fewer and fewer GTA's available for sale compared to say ten years ago. I think people have to be less "picky" due to this is if they really want to own one. What ever GTA you decide on will have issues of some description I can guarantee. Totally agree that if it has excessive rust then just run away like Usain Bolt but don't discount a car due to paint or minor electricals as these can be fixed quite easily.

Your best bet is propably Clee's proposition, otherwise you will have to wait quite a while or withdraw £10k from you bank account....

Seeing Clee's car tomorrow.

I am used to budgeting for on going issues, I have just sold my TVR Tuscan, Alpine running costs are a bargain.

I am also looking at anther car that is neglected inside and has been standing around for a hile, it started first time when a new battery was hooked up. I can buy it for a reasonable price and will get it on a ramp this week, I have another mre local marque expert who will inspect it for me.

It will come with an MOT but currently has a couple of dash warning lights on, windows dont work, indicators don't work, no handbooks, but will come with the parts to sort the interior out. Body and pain is very good plus it has a newish clutch. Expansion tank is empty though which rings alarm bells.

I can do basic stuff but anything more than oil change, brake discs and pads and sinple electrics and I resort to people who know what they are doing!

Old cars don't phase me but I have absolutely no idea how to weld

What is the car you have been to see (year, colour etc)? Maybe we know of it's history?
