Yes, but its not HP that wins races.. Its Torque... 8)

Yes your right thats why for an extra 0.2 litres of capacity the M3 produces 83 BHP and wait for it an extra 65NM of torque does 0-60 in 5.1 while the V6 apparently does it in 6 with a top speed of 153 while the M3 is limited to 155mph but capable of 192mph if derestricted. Yes the Clio lump does produce more torque in comparison to power, but it is slightly lighter and still slower to 60 aerodynamics not really having a major affect until you hit 90ish its still way slower ......sorry but that engine does not put out all that is promised by its spec ....I am afraid to say my money is on the Beemer all day long

And to put the nail in the coffin it will be a more forgiving and easier car to drive quickly too

Yep your right if it breaks down one more time I am thinking about it

As for awesome looking car .....its the Clio V6 everytime ....it has the motorsport appeal 8)

Lets hope they pull; something special out of the bag when producing the next Alpine :P

How Much?

Postby Tony Smith » Mon Oct 24, 2011 5:53 pm

Be interested to see where they pitch it price wise. I think they may go for something more akin to a modern day spider to compete with the Elise. Megane Turbo lump, mid engined , track biased handling. To go more up market than that will be risky, alot of very good cars in that 40-50k range Porsche Cayman, Evora, etc

It still doesn't bode well in my opinion. All this talk of joining forces with another manufacturer to make it, maybe Nissan and/or Daimler, sounds like we'd end up with some front wheel drive badge engineered thing, sharing it's platform with the 'Nissan Super' and the 'Daimler Duper' - all three looking the same, right down to the dashboard, apart from different grills and badges!

And looking at those comments, with all that talk of Sunbeams and Spitfires and quote: 'The front end of that Renault in the picture looks like a 1970s MkI Vauxhall Cavalier!', people still have no idea what a proper Alpine is! So I think Renault would struggle to sell anything badged Alpine in profitable numbers, as much as they always have.

I think the days of a proper Alpine sports car are sadly gone for good. :(

Love that video. 8) Jen gave it a thumbs up too.

I then found this video of a "Road Test" lots of shots of it going fast and lots of noise, then some moody stationary stuff at the end.

What do we know about this car then? What engine?

Is it cheeky little one off to celebrate 50 years of the A110 only? Seems a lot of trouble to go to creating the car and then that video didn’t come cheap.

Can it be a viable road car for public release? That car looks much to concept in its detail and very much racing car in its demeanour.

Leading to, what do you think the chances of this becoming a one make one model gentleman’s race series perhaps at the WSR’s?

Paul i had a good look Friday at goodwood it is racey beause it sits on a Megan Trophy car with the same 3.5 v6.This would have to go and a 2.0 used along with plastic body work not the carbon it has now. This is just me but as it is now i like it but if made i dont think it will look like this to much would have to change.
