Hi John, It is a shame. I do not mind paying if that has been the format from the start.

My issue with them is that it started free and now we have to pay, why change the format? I nearly pulled out last year until 5 free tickets appeared so again why can't they give me those this year?

What is everyone else's view?

Martin,

All the shows seem to be going the same way. I organise a stand for the lotus Esprit guys at the Uxbridge Autoshow which started for free and now there is a charge so peolpe don't attend. Then there is less to see so less people go ond so it goes on, until the show isn't worth visiting.

Trevor.

Does the same apply to all other clubs, no free or discounted tickets whatsoever?
When I go to the Silverstone Classic each year I'm happy to pay so maybe I shouldn't consider Cholmondeley differently. However, it's more a matter of principle and, as you say, why change the format from previous years.
Out of interest I had a look at their website and noted that if you go in a classic car, but don't go on a club pitch, you can apply for a discounted ticket and are parked in a designated area within one of the public car parks. This wouldn't be as good as on a club pitch but at least it's a discount.
I gave them a call to see what sort of discount is offered and was told that the discount decreases as the event approaches but is currently £15.00 for the £24.00 ticket. I asked if tickets for members on club pitches were discounted and they advised they were the same as above but that the discount period lasted longer. Perhaps you knew this already but were trying to negotiate free tickets.
Do you think it worth seeing what entry interest there might be, within the club, on the basis of discounted tickets?

John they did offer discounted tickets but it's not the point.

I really struggled to get 5 cars per day when the tickets were free, what chance have I got when they are £15 per day?

The first year was a really good turnout and we got a quite few southerners up for the event which made it a nice club meet. The last couple of years have been a struggle but if I get a lot of interest I'm happy to go back with my tail between my legs

Date is June 15th - 17th this Year:

Why not start a list and see who is prepared to pay £15. If it reaches 5 for each day which is a minimum number for a decent display then I'll see if the club can do a small subsidy as well.

Saturday

Johnb

Sunday

Johnb

They are all going the same way.

Prescott took away the buy one get one free last year so they got virtually no club cars on Saturday.

Festival Renault was originally supposed to be free now it's 60 euro reduced to 40 euro with a club code and a shocking 1000 euro for a club tent.

People will still go though so Cholmondeley is a bargain in comparison. You can't blame them if they see people paying to go to other shows, they probably think we'll have some of that.

Anymore interest?

That's just JohnB and Turbodog (plus me of course).

We need a minimum of 5 cars for each day on a stand and I need to let them know in the next 2 weeks ideally. Half price club ticket offer ends the end of March so we need more interest please to take this forward...

Happy to do at least 1 day, both if we are short of numbers. Did all 3 days last year and the Friday was fantastic with beautiful weather and very few people so had the place to myself. Would be nice to get some good weather but this is the North West of England in the summer so I won't hold my breath.

Nah sorry mate, CBA!

Been to all but last year and I am fed up of the weather at this event it has always rained and I don't want webbed feet. Plus the last time we went they were supposed to put the Alp’s and V’s next to each other but the pitches were at other ends of the display area, remember we had to commandeer somebody else’s pitch. Mind you the cars that compete on the track are always top notch, but been there, done that, etc. etc. I’m afraid.

I will post on the Venturi forum to see if any of the Lancashire boys want to join you though. PM me your email address for them to make contact if they do.
