Red plug?

Hi all

sunny afternoon, took the GTA for a drive after a few month under the cover... was great ran very well and started first time

looking around i saw this red plug next to the alternator:







not too sure what it is but should this not be connected to anything? looks like the flat metal tag on the opposite side to the white wire is broken due corrosion???

the two black wires could do with rewiring i suppose

any suggestions?

It looks like a surpressor for the alternator to prevent radio interferance.
If so it should have the metal tag bolted to an earth point.

Yes..... if the white wire goes to the positive terminal of the Alternator then that would prove it.

the white wire does come from the positive terminal so thats what it is...

i'll have to see if i can re-attach it somehow, the tab looks quite corroded... should not affect the radio as there is an aftermarket one fitted...
