Any performance data ? Back to back runs ? Throw one on Si's lump and get some power runs
Or is it just sold as an easier system to live with ?

Did a power run on my standard white atmo.

No waiting to fit the carb and exhaust and will then take for another run. Thought I'd try one on my own car to see how it is longer term.

What was the power then on a totally standard car?

Hello all, brand new member saying hello.

I am going to see this car next week after speaking to one of the WD guys, I've been after an A310 for a while and this one looks and sounds good. So, for the benefit of a new guy could anyone answer a few questions I have...?

1) Is there an A310 buying guide available online anywhere?

2) The 16.5k asking price looks steep to me, I'd have thought 14-14.5k would be about right for this car in this market. Am I being silly and overlooking something or do you think they're expecting to get a bit of a turning over on price?

3) It is an early 4 Speed. It has been a while since I've driven one of those, anyone have any experience of that box?

4) How big is the A310 inside? I am 6'2'' and broad. I know I am way too big for an A110 but suspect the 310 is roomier, on par with period Porsche 911s which i fit into just fine...

Lastly, any general advice to offer? I have restored a 73 Citroen DS last year so know what I am getting myself into money wise (probably!)
Restored a 1973 Citroen DS21 for long distance European road rallying, now looking to do same in an A110 or A310

No, There aren't enough of them here for anyone to do one.

It's a bit steep. if you're happy to buy one that needs work then you could save a lot of money. but they don't come up often.
benjj wrote:3) It is an early 4 Speed. It has been a while since I've driven one of those, anyone have any experience of that box?

Having had 4 and 5 speed, the 4 speed is a better change and the engine has enough torque for it not to need 5th (but I won't stop you trying to put it in 5th when you're not thinking).

It'll be a tight squeeze. 6'2 is about the max, but girth should be OK (I fit!)
FYI an A110 can be made to fit the tall (reverse seat runners) and there are a few tall or wide drivers but I can't think of any that are both.

There's good and bad parts-wise.
Some R30 or R25 bits at give away prices and lots of A310 expensive 'out of stock ' parts as well.
It's not a sports car in the A110/elan mould, and it's not a high speed tourer in the GTA mould, but it does fit nicely between the 2

1. Not really a buying guide but I found this article some time ago, more the history and evolution of the A310.

http://translate.google.co.uk/translate ... 26rls%3Den

2. It's difficult to make a judgement about the price just from the photographs but for the price advertised I would expect the car to be near faultless and to have had extensive restoration work to be classed as such. I agree with Andy that; if you can find one that needs work, and you enjoy doing restoration work which you appear to be capable of; then that's another route to ownership to consider.

3. I don't have an opinion about 4 or 5 speed.

4. If you're going to see the car you'll soon find out whether you fit. It should be OK so long as you remember to duck your head as you get in as the door opening is quite low. Once in it's relatively spacious, especially in comparison to the A110.

5. I've driven a couple of V6s but don't have long term driving/ownership experience as I'm still restoring my A310. Best of luck when you go to see the car.

Question for Andy.
You say 'Some R30 or R25 bits at give away prices and lots of A301 'out of stock ' parts as well.
I'd be interested to know more about these. Can you provide any more information?

Having said that, I wouldn't be surprised to see a few more for sale very soon. People that would have been looking for £5k will now expect to get £10k!
