Oil sprays - but couldn't we do with a Parts section?

Postby MFaulks » Sun Jan 01, 2012 12:52 pm

I'm looking for either a Safrane engine block with oil sprays, or better still part numbers for the oil sprays (and block if known exactly) if anybody can find the part number for me that would be great?

New project and some decisions need to be made 8)

But in general with all these new moderators and head chickens... wouldn't a dedicated parts knowledge section, not just thread be useful, as we could then break out into sections like most other forums. Currently we have here, or Sales and Wanted, a bit broad I think… structure, we need structure as an old boss would say :-)

Oh whilst I think of it, can we have a list of the threads that have been deleted by the Mods, so we know what has gone - transparency?

Thanks,
Martin

Shouldn't that say, 4,5 or 6 pot?

I'm guessing 6!

I have a Laguna engine that Martin ( stunned monkey) sold me and told me it had the oil sprays.
I haven't had it apart, but on the basis of Martins information I would have said Laguna engines.
Martin can you confirm?

Thanks chaps for the replies, but yes the V6 PRV.

At the least I’m looking for the part number for the spray insert in the block, they fit in the inside top of the V.

I wouldn’t also say no to buying a block (even bare with no caps if need be…) with them fitted either if anybody defo has one…

Well I've had a few Laguna blocks and none of them had the sprays, but with everything on these engines if you have been around enough of them to have a few side-by-side a bit pot luck which side of the box of chocolates they came, so I don't think there are any guarantees there unless you physically check.

The block I had with them fitted was a 24v...

I have look through the Renault engine repair manual for the PRV "Z" and parts slides & I can not find any oil jets, the same goes for the "L" series V6.
Wasn't the 24V PRV only fitted to Cit XM or Pug coupe??

Thanks Rich. Yes Citroen and Pug, I will check engine code tonight and PM

But that's interesting if you can't find them on the parts list at all, because the theory the Renault engines ever had them, which gets quoted quite a lot seems to be thin on air then??

What dismantle my lovely garage ornament!!

Could you see the sprays from the underside? If so I might be tempted to take the sump off and have a look. Its on a stand anyway...

No you can't I doubt, you can only really tell when the pistons are out.. Only other way is a flexible bore scope, get past the crank, and look back from the piston side down towards the block :-). They sit just at the base of the liner, on a ledge of the casting obscured from the crank side.

So it really is a take it apart to find out job .... and then, wait for it... nope I haven't got them, and I've got my garage floor covered in cr ap again! Hahahaha+

What engine code have you got, and do you know the actual origin i.e. type of car etc it was from?
