Famous Alpine Owners/Celebrities

Postby BIG_MVS » Sat Dec 10, 2011 9:25 am

Following on from our new recruit's (Sam G15) comment about a famous owner (who the hell are Strangeways, I thought it was a prison  ), anyone got any more?

I'm not talking about ones that have been seen on telly, Howards Way etc but where famous people have actually owned one for their own use.

An old friend of mine who was as mad on golf as I am revealed that Bernard Langer (German bloke who won the Masters twice) had one when he played over here. It was a Black Turbo around 1986/1987. I wonder if it is still around?

I guess Mr Sage will have met/serviced the cars for the stars in the past so he will have more info?

Ah yes forgot about him. Wasn't it a 610 though that he bought from old Aidan Peirs?

Hmmm, was from Aiden Piers for sure, but I seem to think it was a GTA Turbo, and also thought it then ended up in Chester after he sold it and had the reg B 1 NUT fitted to it.....

Simon definately had at least one A610 but may have had GTA's before. He's a proper car nut. I was talking to a guy who used to work at Aidan Piers who was telling me about him. My car was serviced and sold through Aidan Piers in it's early life. For some reason though, I'm pretty sure Steve had a blue A610 (as I say though, he could of had more than one).

Your probably right, when I bought my GTA from Aiden Piers in '94 the sales guys was telling me that they had sold one to Simon only a few weeks earlier. I thought it was normal sales patter but then I saw him tanking it up at a petrol station! I don't think he had it for too long so probably went back and traded up 8)

Didn't Damon Hill drive an A610 during his early Williams Renault F1 years? Can't find any pics to prove though...

Yes, Damon had a blue A610. Nigel Mansell had my car in his company car fleet. Patrick Head used to love the A610 too and had at least one (and was the very first UK customer to own one due to his Williams Renault connection). I remember him writing an article about it in one of the old magazine's (can't remember which one unfortunately)

There was a black GTA for sale recently (Pistonheads?) which apparently had been owned by chef Michel Roux Jr. of BBC's 'Masterchef'.

Mine was registered in 1990 and was delivered to the Williams Renault F1 team. No idea who in the team / organisation drove it.
The next 5 owners were not so glamorous - an accountant, a garage owner etc..

By the way, anyone can find out the previous owners history of their car by contacting the DVLC. Doesnt cost you anything - or at least it didnt 5 years ago.
