who are you talking to ? Lee or Lee ?

price = dunno as I've had to get them machined to length from the shipped versions + we need to see if they work + source them here as shipping was stupid money ....+++ lots of things so until then I really can't say .

tbh you'd be better off buying a cage first  I have a price for that fitted ...

Lee

I see what your saying Lee but the race car will have solid bars instead of springs and I know my car will have increased spring and damper rates and will be lower so this should restrict movement required? Maybe not compatible on a standard car ?

Answers to questions a Price even :?: and you've got the nerve to rib Mr Dell

2 bob n a conker they aint..........

lee's shafts in the photos are bespoke made for his own application for his project racer......

i can get shafts done as i've already had spider shafts done and already have a supplier, as they are a bespoke length and nothing off the shelf will fit, the GTA s / A610 will be a similar fabrication job as spider shafts just a different length as they use the same CV's and a similar thickness (an uprated version compared to oem ) for those of you with a bit of extra oomf .

if several club memebers showed an interest i could get them done at pretty competitive price depending on the numbers ordered.....

Can you unbolt the drive shafts from the splines in the box, I am building a race car not a standard road car; I am aiming for jobs like a clutch to be done in about a day. This winter/spring a shorter ratio box is going in, the subframe will be modified so that the box can be removed from underneath withoutt the need to remove the whole subframe. A race car breaks you need it to be quick to work on.....I am starting as I mean to go on TBH thats what I am building, it may take me a while to get there but get there I will do.

No point buying standard shafts if I am going to want to change then again later ,,,,especially when theres nothing currently wrong with the shafts fitted to the car

It's great that shafts will be available at realisitc prices to keep the cars on the road

Si,

I don't know what you are getting so heated about. I had the drive shafts made for a project I wanted to do for myself - period. I was working to a spec I wanted for a strip monster, not much else. The engine was going twin turbo, serious power and I had the setup engineered many moons ago, but like a lot of projects sat about and didn't have a car etc... it then made better sense to use them in something that was going to get completed. So there is nothing special about them other than they are designed to handle massive torque, and hence really on the heavy side for lower torque applications.

There are many solutions, but you need to decide what you are really going to be doing with the car, and how much money you are going to burn / pain you are prepared to accept. One minute you asked me about gas-flowed / ported heads, now you are on gear ratios, next will be something else... and the cage point raised by CLee is a good one - get it first, as safety is premium...

I would ask, what is your realistic racing budget? Some of the modifications you are talking add up to 10s of '000s very quickly, and you still need to go racing at the end of it...
... A diamond is only a piece of coal that did well under pressure... PRV afflicted, may be I need to squeeze harder!!!!

    If I was claiming to be so clever I would have done it myself    and not be asking about others endeavors etc. I am puzzled as to why you think I have tried to widdle on your fire. I was assuming and I assume I assumed correctly that yours were standard fitement, not that they were rubbish and not worth the purchase its just I was requiring something else other than that I am sorry if my requirements have upset you Andy was not my intention at all.

I kinda guest they would not cost a couple of Conka's to be honest but Lee has advised he can get items produced quite reasonably by wheeling and dealing up North but if they were a reasonable cost I can aim to maybe get some somewhere down the line. The reason I might do this :?: Well y garage is in the Street so when I do a job like this I have either rent a space or I have to pay someone else to do it. If by some investment in certain areas I can change a box, clutch within a day in the roadside if I have to it will be Money well spent. It just depends on the cost; hence my enquirey to clee. You intimated that Clees car was somehow different in the drive train department, I politely asked why these drive shafts would not fit; as afar as I know the car is on coilovers standard purchase and the gearbox and mounts are the same so I was again puzzled as to the reason they would not be applicable; may be you know more than I?

I even praised the fact that you were able produce drive shafts to help keep the cars on the road; presumabley at a reasonable preice otherwose you wouldn't have wasted your time and money. Agiain puzzled as to how I put out your fire

I am not sure why you think I am getting heated

Not that I was aware :?:      Thats great thats part of I needed to know and was asking, I understand what you are saying in terms of weight/strenght for the currentl application, but as I have mentioned previously the car is to be built in stages so no point using shafts that cant handle lots of starts over a long period of time without having some ability to handle the power I hope is to come.

Yes I did come to you and speak to you about a 3ltr odd fire some moons ago, but decided then that it cost far too much money for far too little gain.

I spoke to you or PM'd or posted about the 3ltr even fire......the plan now being to fit the later more efficient Laguna/Safrane lump with the view to Super Charging it as a preferred method of of gaining the much required power increase the car requires to run up against Ferraris and Porsche GT3 RS's M3's M5's etc unfortunately this is my chosen car and the class inwhich these cars also run

Rather than spend money on mild tuning of the engine which will be expensive for little gain and will also give improved performance to the old oddfire currently fitted you advised me to try a lower ratio crown wheel and pinion to gear the car for the speed its required .....correct I dont need 144 miles per hour I'll never ever get there and under your advice will improve accelleration for less outlay by dropping the final gering:P sounds good to me especially as I have to remove my box due to synchro issues on 2nd so what better time to do it

Most of the sprints I do are at very safe venues not to say that accidents cant happen, but to run in my class, road going I have to keep all the seating internal panels etc not great when fitting a cage, the last thing I need to do is to have to remove the seats making them run against modified cars with far better set up, lighter and subtantially better power I am onto a double hiding.

I agree with fitting a roll cage but adding even more weight to an already slow in class car doesn't make sense to me currently, as I am sprinting and not circuit racing. There are many people running road going cars with no cages and very very few accidents ...not to say that it does not occur. I dont think as I have said previously that I really need to fit a cage doing the events that I am currently doing. when the car becomes a lot more powerful and harder to drive and the speeds increase substantially I will not hesitate in fitting a cage. I do however think that the car being fibreglass, I will want to fit a plumbed in extinguisher system as soon as possible  I have difficulty in exiting the car with a crash helmet on ....infact with the current seat it's impossible and TBH thats concerns me DEEPLY:shock: maybe a change of seat etc for next year and fitment.

TBH My budget is crap at the moment but in a couple of years time that will be a different kettle of fish so I will keep slowly developing the car; its not a bad thing to plan a head.

Under advice it is better to develop a car slowly as you then become aware of the developments you make and what affect they have on your times; if you make too many how do you know whats made you quicker or slower for that matter or why the car behaves in a certain way. Tyre suspention how do you know if you change both at the same time......this suits my budget anyway so advice accepted willingly :P

As for me getting heated no why should I be heated not sure where that train of though came from.........chill everyone life doesnt depend upon it its a car club ....feel the love :P

Group Hug anyone

:P ok then Martin nearly forgot, what did they actually cost is it possible to recreate something similar more suited to the application, but an upgrade over standard and a cheaper price .....with bolt up type shafts? could standard shafts be modified to do this at a reasonable cost if I am stuck with standard shafts due to cost?

I gratefully leave it in your far more capable hands
