meh ...doing it properly takes time

40% of the time is spent developing bits and the rest trying to fund it

We have so many one offs it's scary .I doubt they will ever be more than that but it's fun and there will not be another out there to touch it when finished

Very GT3 darling

Postby si21 » Mon Sep 19, 2011 5:59 pm

They look good i.take it they are formed to shape likw the original glass. Will you put any.further ventilation as once your all trussed up in 3 layers of Nomex booted suited helmet an all it will get extremely hot in there very quickly. I take it i am.safe to.assume that the windows are no longer operable and electrics have been removed; perhaps some small round clear ball socket type ventts in the front quarter glass maybe good?

Once I'm suited ,booted and in full face a small ball will be about as much use as tits on a boar .Rear quarter slats will let air in .Have a look at the 911 racers that support BTCC .
All shaped so just bond in

Your in the front of the vehicle and the slats are in the rear not sure how that will work but your the Gunea pig so you'll find out, I get hot enough in just a single layer suit, next year will be a double layer so will be a lot hotter. You my Friend will be in a tripple layer suit   .

I would have though a ball/socket vent would be great; great for jet propelling a fly in the eye at a120mph   . does the Poshe have any internal venting though? or mores to the point do you

I assume then that the PC is fixed.

Ok for future refference as I cant change the glass in road going what would the damage be?

Looking at the GT3 RS I am guseeing the open vents in the rear quarter glasses let air out rsather than air in; letting the vents in tha dash pass air through the whole car. Again guessing I guees pressure from from the fron of the vehicle being greater than the pressure at the rear of the car and the air passing over the side will draw air through.

Where is the ECU now located somehwere dry I hope

I wonder how chilly Mark and Andy are in the open tops ....Not a great deal cooler I expect in three layers etc etc ..
It's way down on my list ,I just want some airflow through the cabin and the rear slats will be just fine + the ball vent things look w-ank
There is a dorty big hole in the front now remember

So does satin black paint but it does a job

Its a race car its a tool to do a very fun job 8) :P :P

I suppose it depends on type and how its installed.

A thought had just occured to me tbough i become a little clostrephobic in the Gta when hot but only when sittting waiting for my moment of glory or when trying to remove ones, helmet; I cant get out helmet in situe. This does worry,me,some what but if i'm honest i've never ever even noticed the tempreture when driving test piloting.

It's a case of sacrificing comfort for style ....I know I'm going to struggle to get in and out with the cage + the seat will have to be direct mount to the floor and in a fixed position relative to pedals because there is zero clearance to the cage cross member with a helmet on for me but Martin has shorter legs and torso .....We are both going to have to get used to an imperfect driving position

......it's going to be a laugh at driver changeover

be careful regarding new legislation regrding the amount of time it takes to get out of a race car, not sure if it affects classic racers or just new classes of racing; just be mindful of changes as you build mate
