Hethel was not exactly a "Gamblen" of a day but not my greatest event this year.
FIrst, the new track is great, all resurfaced, new kebrs, some re profiled corners, a pit lane and full circuit now in use.
1st practice lap was good with good grip on some used slicks I picked up lately and felt confident to push on on the later runs, (grip and tyre temp has always been a problem for me here). 2nd run then and went for it and was super fast around the first 2 bends but then the rear stepped out while approaching the 3rd turn (which is not even on the map, although, no excuses as I did walk the course) and although I caught the initial slide, I was heading for the kerb with a wheel on the grass which then became mud in which I sunk down into and spun around on. thanks for the marshals for pushing me out but I had been literaly swamped. God knows where it had come from, it is mid summer after all, i can only think it is left over from the building of the new track itself.

We spent the luchbreak clearing out handfulls of clay from everywhere and the wheels looked like they had just done the RAC rally circa 1979.
With confidence blown and a different set of wheels on, I went out in time for the second timed run, just in order to set a time to win the class.... (I was the only runner in class, the reserve watching my every move!). Job done then but probably the least satisfying trophy on my shelf.

Would recomend the event for anyone competing next year, not often you get the chance to compete on a F1 standard track, lets just hope the mud has dried up by then.

Hang on a minute I have never ever blamed the cirucit or mud for my short commings as a driver    for that I take full responsibility.

I have only ever blamed "Christine" for that

All my issues been due to mechanical issues not human error or errors forced due to mechanical issues ....I have my pride you know

.....I lost control so its a "Gamblen day" blimming bare faced cheek of it. 8)

If the car would NOT start stopped in the middle of run or will not give you 2nd Gear then you had one hell of a "Gamblen day"

Spun.....Thats down to you buddy    no Gamblen in that

si21.....1 spin in 7 events not bad for a beginner in a never diven before car  8)

simon, read it properly and I said it was not a "gamblen" (ie its an new club term for having a shitter of a day and not making the start line despite a lot of effort and cash being spent, sorry but a "christine" of a day just doesnt seem to cut it).
god knows what all the other stuff is you are going on about there is about!

A bit of a disapointing event at Brands, messed up my second (final) timed run from the start so my first time had to stand, needless to say Mitchel Perry got the win in his stripped Clio 182 leaving me in second place of 5. Car did not feel comfortable to push hard with.
An expensive event to do and not sure I will enter this one again, did not enjoy it as much as I expected to. Some cracking racing going on in the afternoon though!

Next up is Debden on 2nd October.

Hi Mark

How did you get on at Debden :?:

7 cars in my class for Eelmore, going to put an entry in for Lydden if I can this week......

..................Mmmmmmrr Dell since your not in France the weekend of Lydden ......where will you be eh? With all those cars you have there must be one that you could put round a circuit :?: You can even pay online with plastic could not be more simple if you tried.

Put some pressure on him Mark help me out here  The aim to get as many Alpine and Renault sport cars out on the circuits possible enough to run our own championship 8) Now that would be cooel CAR do it so why cant we, we have more members after all said and done
