I was ambling through town in my GTA yesterday with the aircon on (windows wound down :D ), as I pulled out of a junction there were three lads on the corner and I heard one of them say: 'no, it's a Delorean.' They obviously don't know their stainless steel from their GRP!

And there was a RHD delorean in my towns carnival parade on Saturday too, I didn't see why, as it wasn't a car parade it was supposed to be the towns clubs.

Its amazing how tatty stainless can look on what was otherwise a very tidy car.

GRP any time

HEY DOC WHAT WAS UP WITH THE TIME MACHINE LAST NIGHT FLUX CAPACITOR PLAYING UP. i wish i had a tener for every time somebodys cracked a back to the future joke

mmmm i pulled up at a setof lights in Downham and a well spoken gentleman pulls up and says lovely car .....i say oh thanks :P :P :P he follows up with.....it's a Delorean isn't it

I advised him differently    and gave him a very quick history lesson

I never thought that this was a common mistake

Well if you think your having problems being incorrectly diagnosed, i have a louvered rear hatch i guess it will happen again :?

Si21 considerably quicker than a DeLorean :P

You think you've had problems....I love the car, hate the attention they get.

The dumbest comment I hear every bloody time I'm out in a customer car "you don't see these every day, do you...?"

...actually, numnuts, I see them all the bleedin' time....

I was at PJ Grady's the other day (a unit with 8 visible DeLoreans), and someone walked in and said the exact same thing...

There was an A310 with an auto gearbox advertised a long while back. Owned by Delorean as a test mule for the DMC12 but with work by Lotus who'd done some of the initial development stuff.

It was interesting in that it connected Alpine, Lotus and Delorean together - it was in one of the classic mags a few years back up for sale, I've probably still got it somewhere. I wonder where that car is now?

Interesting bit I just found by Googlin' - see about 2/3rds of the way down.

There's a GTA kicking around in Texas somewhere with a DeLorean engine too.

That seems like the exact opposite of a sensible swap.

There were supposedly 6 of them that Lotus had for development work.
I think Mr Bishop has one.
IIRC Alan Johnstone has a couple (the auto and the injection ones).
He had big problems sorting the injection and as one of his businesses was a bosch fuel injection specialist, you can imagine how p155ed off he was.

Yep that's what I understood but the auto box option was an odd one and there was some talk that it was used for a while by John Delorean.

No, it's a Volvo B28F (US spec Volvo lump) with Renault sump and crank case and ancillaries common to the 30. 2849cc with K-Jetronic, lambda and active idle control

Not for the US market... and they needed a rear-mountable transaxle that didn't have "Porsche" written on it.
