Not sure that I rate a Renault 5 Gordini turbo that much 8)

compare my result on row 38 with the 'dini' on row 28. It is all tricked up, no interior and prepared by a specialist.
I also blew away a VX220 turbo on row 40 and an M3 CSL on row 39.
plus 2 Scoobies, rows 44 and 45,
and all the other Renaults too,
except for Bob Gibson's A110, but he has tons more down force onboard than me.

So, who is up for a bit of proper speed testing ???

Surely the best way to create the ultimate GTA/A610 would be to take the far superior 3.0 litre engine from the A610 mildly mod it to around 300 bhp and put it in the much lighter more responsive GTA body. :roll:

There are some seriously quick Clio's and Dini's around now, the dini's struggle to get the power down but are awesomely quick in the mid-range, would love to try Pauly's supercharged Clio see how it gets the power down. The key to the Dini's is intercooling them and then using the right bits so the engine hangs together they make 200bhp at a bar then with the right turbo and they only weigh about 800kgs!

3l lump is not superior in any way apart from the greater capacity ..end of :P
The best way is to twin turbo it :lol: Not take one off :wink:

Surely for sprinting a supercharger would be better- more immediate boost lower down, which would suit the PRV's asthmatic tendencies at high revs?
The 3l block would give massive toque and with the good traction you get from a rear engined car that would make a nice sprinting car.

However the real problem is that would be in a class with lots of very fast cars like Skoobies and Evos...
1.2l Alfasud anyone? if there were any left that is.

Chargers are the way forward just needs to be super light though.

For a sprint hill climb car I think that this is the way I want to go less heat prgressive power. No lumps of power as the large turbo kicks in. twin turbo adds more weight to the rear end and is very expensive to do.


The super charger will be my choice once the new injected lump has gone in.....one day.

I think Mr Taylor seem to have a problem with Dini's... Did somebody in a Dini many years ago steal your girlfirend?

And before you say anything it was not me that said the Dini was the fastest car in the world.

I think this demonstates the speed of a Dini.

You say that Phil but a well sorted 5 in the hands of mr Hart was amazingly rapid at prescott and i thought everyone was.tuning the dini lump as its flows better and gives more power. The car weighs less as well and the prv is not efficient power,against capacity.

YES MR Si but have you ever owned a DINI? I have owned 15+ Dinis and customised a few. The engine is Longitudinal, with the engine being towards the bulkhead and the gearbox above the wheels..... which means grip is the biggest downfall of this car, if the engine was transverse like in the 5 GT Turbo, things would be a bit different. I have tried everything to keep the power down....... 200bhp is easy achievable out of a Dini engine. That’s why I believe and I am sure somebody will correct me if I am wrong, the fastest 5 GT Turbo on the strip was running a Dini engine with fuel injection…..and fecking wide tyres!!

Ah but you are talking about the design and potential of the engine. As fitted to the GTA and the A610 the 3.0 is far better. 60 bhp and 50 ft/lbs, 3.0 is smoother, more flexible , revs better suffers from less lag and is more economical. What is better about the 2.5? A bit lighter maybe, I can't think of anything else.

And as for 1 turbo vs 2 alot of twin turbo cars are converted to single turbo on the japanese scene when going for more power, the issue with the GTA has always been the manifold

I suspect that the z7u(2.5) and the z7x (3.0)are pretty much the same weight. Bigger holes in the z7x block, cross drilled block, balance shaft and bigger diameter down pipe, plus cat might make a few kgs difference, but it's probably next to nothing compared to the power difference.
Better? Power delivery and economy are better on the 3.0 but just because it's better controlled, it's not to do with the block.
The manifolds clearly stop it revving properly, and the whole engine is rough compared to a properly balanced v6 with a 60 degree angle, nothing you can do about that.
Of course when you start to mod an engine the clever management tricks can be lost.
Anyone got more than 300hp documented yet?

mr dini i, know about the layout of the transmission etc and i've never owned a dini i am not trying to say they will be the quickest car in the world, but monseur taylor was refering to a stripped out modified car. I think they should still be rapid. The 21 is front wheel drive my car cant even put down 212 bhp in the dry off the line but mr hilliars race modified with properly sorted suspension with 250 bhp does it a hell of a lot better.

You make out that dini does not make any power id love 200 bhp in my gta atmo at the moment. The dini is front mid engined :lol: :lol: whilst it may be slow off the mark a sorted car should be able to carry a lot of speed through the corners its swings and round abouts. Even if it had 160 brake with little,weight and turbo torque it should be rapid. Mini verses firenza if you like it should not be a slow car not modified anyway.
