Small lottery win !

Postby Tony Smith » Sun May 15, 2005 5:09 pm

You just had a reasonable win on the lottery and you've allotted :) yourself 100k car budget. Besides getting your GTA up to spec what else are you going to purchase. Personally I'd buy an RS6 Audi saloon (25K ish), a 2.5 TDi A4 Audi estate (7K ish), a mid-engined 5 Turbo (10K), a TVR Griffith (15K), some sort of trackday special like a Caterham /Westfield/Atom/radical (20K) and a Megane 225 trophy for my daily runabout!
Alpines - GTA 3.0 Turbo, GTA 3.0 Inj (Project DD), GTA 6.2 V8 (500 bhp) , R32 Skyline GTR, BMW Alpina B10 635 Highline, Alpina B10 E39 5 Series, Jaguar 4.2 XKR, Laguna 205GT, BMW 120d.

Think youre being a little optomistic on the 10k for a 5 turbo 2.....when I looked 18 months ago they were 12-15k.
I'd have a reallly good 15k one...and a Lancia 037 35k, a decent single seater to compete in 20k a small motorhome to go to events in 25k and a 5k runaround.....I dont know.....an Alfa 147.
Sadly I'd then need a house with lots of space and garaging!!!!!
If I had another 50k I'd take a Lancia Stratos as well....then I'd be really happy :D

Id like a Venturi 400GT, a proper sorted Stratos Replica, 993 cabriolet and a new Espace.

I'd have to buy a TVR Tuscan, an Aston DB7 (or if they've fallen enough a Vanquish!), an RS6 estate (they look better!), Metro 6R4 (rallycross spec 6-700 bhp!) and a few bikes (Harley Dyna Wide Glide, MV Augusta F4) or a combiation depending what the budget allows.

Remember gazing at a delivery miles road spec RS200 in an Ilford showroom a couple of years ago. (I went to look at the Le Mans next door before it was burnt out). Just out of reach at £80K

And, you'll need to get a bit luckyier, as 153.8 years is a long way off too.

At odds of 50:1 (which I think is about right for a £10 win) you'd only have to buy 399950 tickets to get your £79,990. The great thing about this scheme is that you could get your lady to buy the tickets and she'd never notice the money going out at a quid a time whereas if you spend £80k all at once it would surely be noted. Good luck and keeep us informed of progress - especially when the bailiffs come round to seize your GTA collection.

In answer to the original question - I'd buy a manky old 1.2lt Vauxhall Nova and stick as much plastic crap and a bean-tin sized "carbon fibre look" exhaust on it and finish it off with a paint job using paint made from pure platinum dust. I'd spend the remaining £500 on optimax and drive up and down the same piece of road all day and night with the stereo blaring - chavtastic!

Seriously - I'd love a decent Cobra replica for sunny days, a 911 turbo for not so sunny days when the GTA is broke and an RS4 or RS6 for wet days and carting the Kids and their associated crap around.

One of my longstanding work mates has just treated himself to a Cobra from Rod whatshisname at Nostalga, Totally Awe-sum to say the very least.
