You want how much for insuring my A610

Postby A610beaver » Fri May 20, 2011 5:18 pm

Middle aged professional, no accident, no convictions, car kept in security vault at a postcode that has no crime and a limited mileage policy of 1500 miles per year. Use for social and domestic and they want £350 for insurance

My 340BHP BMW that gets left in the road and is worth 3X the A610 used for business with unlimited mileage is only £150 more. How do they work that out?

I've tried Footman James and Adrian Flux who are more or less the same!!

Neither have heard of RAOC so won't offer any discount for being a member which I'm not yet but was thinking of joining.

Anyone any ideas for insurance?

My insurance on my A610 went up 120 (30%) this year to about the same amount- for 5k through Adrian flux. Locked in a garage, rural market town location with low crime, standard car, professional (?) owner getting close to 50 (makes me sound old...), clean driving record.
I phoned everyone and couldn't better it.
Where is the competition?

Try Hagerty Classic Car Insurance, I have used them for the Spider for he last 3 years and you get a discount for the RAOC. They also include cheap UK and European Breakdown cover. Worth a try and cheaper than people like footman james

Thanks for all of the above. I'll start ringing around in the morning.

My TR6 is just over £100 which I thought was about right for a car with a much higher value than my A610 and a greater chance of being put into a hedge.

Thanks again.

I found the Alpines exspensive too. Adrian Flux was the cheapest i found, and the guy told me he had quite a few GTA's on their books.

I also had my 510hp Chevy Camaro + Nitrus with them, and that was only £130 a year !.

I pay around 430 for social, dom & pleasure plus to and from work,
However, if I drop the to and from work bit, it goes down to 130 a year.
